Title: Is the Hmong community supposed to be proud when a Hmong woman
Post by: Solemn Wind on November 09, 2010, 06:02:04 AM
Is the Hmong community supposed to be proud when a Hmong woman made it as a NBA dancer or an NFL cheerleader? ???

What if she made it as a big time pornstar like Tera Patrick making millions of dollars a year? ;)

Oh...and by the way, Tera Patrick is half Thai...and she used to live in Fresno and even Merced...repre senting Asian pride and Merced. O0

a sports dancer is not derogatory; being a pornstar is. there is a difference, even though both may pertain to a woman's sexuality.
whether a porn star is acting or not, she's often subject to being portrayed as inferior, used, and abused; especially asian women.
dancers have an occupation that maintain professionalis m, in that even though the attention they receive may stem from the same
orientation, they don't put themselves in demeaning situations.

So what you're saying the difference is like the way a CEO/Wall Street type person and a bank robber makes their money?

It's the same thing but they just go about at different ways of achieving it...with one being respectable or sort of respectable or at least okay and the other one is not?

We are supposed to be proud of our Hmong women regardless of what they do!  That is pretty high standards for a Hmong woman to achieve, a cheerleader for a well known organization.  It is as high as a Hmong man earning a name on a NBA roster...which could be some time or ever happening.

I wonder why we have to feel pride just on the basis that someone is Hmong. I feel proud of anyone who has achieved, regardless of whether or not they are Hmong.

in your opinion... on the subject. I'd say it's fine...it's her life, why you guys always worry about what there family thinks? You know they are already worried about it... You don't have to make it your problem too....If she's good and your into watching porn I'd say we should support her...it's not like Gean Torino is gonna help her pay for college or a house or anything else

Is this question valid?   :D  I agree with everyone.

Don't our parents brag to one other anyway?  Think about how many times did your parents bring up good news about a relative, or friend's sons and daughters?

nfl and nba cheerleaders do not make much. I applaud their like in dancing to pursue a career out of it. My friend is a 49er Cheerleader and for every game, she gets paid at least 100 to 150.00 a night. She have to provide her own transportation if she is from a different city.

But whatever, I still applaud them for making the cut. There's a lot of gorgeous ladies that actually try out and do their best.

You don't think Tera Patrick and a lot of female pornstars are gorgeous and trying their best to entertain us? ??? The only difference is a pornstar such as Tera Patrick makes just as much as the NFL players, unlike the cheerleaders.

I can imagine the OG women talking and one of them starts bragging... kuv tus ntxhais ua hauj lwm tau nyiaj heev, nwg pw es tso khej dub tias, Mev, tias khej dawb xaa nwg xwb.
