Title: Homemade Orange Chicken (Panda Express style)
Post by: zena on July 26, 2016, 01:26:26 PM
Found a recipe on FB that said it was very similar to Panda Express's Orange Chicken so gave it a try and OMG.  Loved it!  Husband loved it even more than I did.  I thought I put a bit too much orange zest but he said it was perfect.  My oldest daughter loved it too!  She likes it with fried rice.  Will definitely be making more of this.

Recipe was from my FB (as mentioned).  It's someone I follow who always posts tons of recipes and this one caught my eye.

1 egg
1 tsp white pepper (I used regular black pepper)
1 1/2 tsp salt
- whisk together items above then add 2 cubed chicken breasts and mix together

1/2 c cornstarch
1/4 c flour
- mix
- add chicken and mix together
- fry in oil until cooked

In a sauce pan or wok, put in the following ingredients and then turn heat to high.
1 tbsp oil
2 tbsp garlic
1 tbsp ginger
1/2 tsp red chili flakes
1 tbsp rice wine
1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
5 tbsp vinegar
1 1/2 tbsp water
3 1/2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp orange zest
- add chicken and stir.
- add 1 tbsp corn starch and mix all.  The juice will coagulate or get sticky. It only takes a minute or so. Done.
