And which one do you think is more powerful?

Depends.  PH runs on PHP (.php extension on website).  Python is more database, and php is more web development.  Learn what you need to do the work.

I didn't ask for myself.  I'm asking you what you like and why?

I've heard of people using PHP and like Python better and vice versa.  It's a war out there....which I find interesting, because I know there is a difference.

I have no preference for programming languages.

I have used PHP.  I don't like PHP but I don't want to learn any new language.  So I'm sticking to PHP.

I would think Python is a better language.  PHP is a broken language.  There are contradictions within the language.

I would prefer Java or C#.

I don't care for either; I have used PHP very little and python more often for doing work with data related projects.  I am not sure if one is more powerful than the other, but if it's the usual case you choose the best tools for the job, not necessarily which one you think is more powerful.

For example python has a mature and well built library for data manipulation and analysis work, for that reason many of us will use python.  However if you're in need of building a website PHP would be your choice.  The market is also full of PHP freelancers that could probably help you out as well.

And yes, this site is built on PHP.  Most likely what many would call the LAMP stack.

Go Python.  Trust me on this.  From embedded devices to web applications, Python is used.  It is very versatile.  Let's just say Python is being used in places you wouldn't believe.
