BFS Bait Finesse System/Style

= Big Fishing Scam  ;D

Or maybe we just got too many internet influencers leading us astray.  Anyway it seems like the original concept way back circa mid 2000 when the Japanese were taking a more finesse style of bass fishing as opposed to the stateside of Americans going bigger for bass fishing.  Mostly it was lures less then 1/4 oz and current rods of medium or medium light power was at the far end of that finesse system.  So mostly it did fall back to spinning gear.

Going way back when I first gotten really into fishing and that St. Croix Premier 6' Light spinning rod.  That St. Croix Legend Elite 6' Medium casting rod.  Of course it was all about white bass fishing for me.  This was as mostly me using 1/4 oz. lure weights.  Becuase it worked.  I was still using my Stradic 1000FG spinning reels and the hot Curado 50E casting reels.  However the Shimano Metenium MG7 casting reels was what really open it up for me.  15# Fireline Braid, 20# Sufix 832 braid on the casting reels was insane by those days standards.  You must use at least 30# braid, but standard was 50# braid.

Fast forward to recent today, BFS casting reels.  10# braids on a casting reel is unbelievable.  Well it would've equal to old standards of 6# braids but that's becuase mfg. lies and understate actual braid strength to line diameter.  Well since BFS rods are now widely available and labled, I'm finding it to sort be a Big Fishing Scam.  These rods are so powered closely to ML in power even when labled as Light powered.  Now I wonder if I should've looked for UL powered rods.  However knowing fishing industry UL rods are moderate action and flimsy in feel.  Hopefully that will change in the future.  I've always wanted to use a Light powered rod in feel like a spinning rod action design, but just for casting reels.  Whose to say that one can't just put a casting reel onto a spinning rod and use.  It works just fine, just looks weird.  For myself fishing has become more about me playing with lures.  Catching fish is just a side effect bonus.

Go Big Go Power.

There was a movement in fishing that was all about upsizing - by bass fishing.  By today's niche it's about huge Glide baits and Swim baits, but us white bass fanatics was still stuck in our wallyworld fishing style.  I for one thing that as a shore banger would naturally do, go 1/2 oz. lures or larger.  Those 1/2 oz. Rooster Tails were secret.  Those #5 Mepps spinners were secret.  Those 3/4 oz. Kastmasters were secret.  1/2 oz. Super Spook jr. was secret.  Bomber Slab Spoon 1 1/4 oz. huge big secret.

When the white bass bite was hot, I wasn't looking for the smaller ones, I was looking for the big ones.  Back then it was common to catch 21-23 inches big females.  I probably ate state record breaking fish.  However in a few short years after word gets out, it became tough to catch even a 19" female white bass.  For sure heavier lures can cast further, that's the gist of it.  Bigger lures also means only the bigger fish will be able to bite it.  As simple logical method, it works too.

My old gear for spinning rods was Cabelas 7' XML in Heavy power.  Worked so well, I easily overpowered those white bass.  I bring in those big ones like little ones.  Stradic 4000FG reels and 50# Berkley Whiplash braids.  I had also then gotten a Musky casting rod, St. Croix Legend Tournament 7'3" Medium Heavy rod paired with Shiman Conquest 400 round casting reel 80# Sufix 832 braid.  Rod was design to cast 2 oz. lures.  White bass was like pulling in baby panfish.  They just bite and out of the water they came, sort of.  Back then I only needed to fish for like barely over an hour and gotten plenty of fish.  No such thing as all morning or even all day fishing.

When people are just doing all looking, heavy power gear hides that one is catching big fish.  It just looks like little fish caught.

The Super Cube

The first few episodes were kind of lame and I almost just call it quits on this.  Then for some really abrupt change, our protagonist is dragged into some multi-plot twists.  Now it hooked me...

The Game Room / Infinite Galaxy

Infinite Galaxy by Camel

I started playing this mobile game about a year after it's release.  I started out in Server 87 and played as a free player.  As usual, if the content of the game is not productive for a free player, it really doesn't have much merits for play quality.  Well I'm still playing it after two years plus even after multiple server mergers.  I have also become a micro transaction player, but only after two years.

This is a space warship strategy game type, real time simulation.  You collect and build a flagship and then build a collection of fleet warship.  You make or join an alliance in a guild fashion.  Donate to the alliance and level it up to allow more members.  A standard build your tech attributes at the alliance level, expand your territory om space.

Early game strategy:  There is a simple campaign mode that gives single player a somewhat story mode.  This is where the free player mode is mostly focused on PVE.  There is also a flight shooter mode and is free player in design too, but is limited to how far one gets in campaign mode as well.  Now a big portion of the game is based on space exploration.  So you send your probes out and wait till the come back.  The further out you explore the more time requirement there is.  Plus some side quests comes from those exploration discoveries.  There is a limit to the campaign mode and it ends almost to easily.  The same for the flight shooter mode as well, but it is more based on the enemies that are just too powerful to shoot down in the time limit.

Being a war strategy game, yeah you could shoot other players or become a victim yourself.  So there is a race to become stronger.  This is where paying players clearly have an advantage.  There is a VIP level bonus and of course paying for it clearly gives on an advantage.  Also giving that paying player the first flagship designed for PVP advantage.  In simplicity even the very first payment package clearly gives a player advantage.  Then there is luck when opening dropped gifts that may give one a bonus of a flagship or crew that defines one's stats.  For a free player, yeah one is at the mercy of whatever the games gives you.  For paid players, they can just buy the flagship or crew when such packages becomes available.  Of course there are only certain things that a paid player are given access to.

Like all online war games, there is a need for a base of free players that will always be fodder for the paid players.  Most free players will probably last about 6 months to just over a year of play time.  It's mostly because free player contents ends and it's no fun being shot down at every event by paid players.  Then there are whales that eat up everything the game has to offer.  Of course most free players hate them, but the reality is these guys keeps the game free for the rest of players.  One could say that high paying players probably spend about $5k to $10k a year on this game.  The whales are spending over $100k a year on this game.

There are routine daily missions.  There are weekly routines events.  There are monthly events.  Then there are tournament events.  All are design to drop certain materials used for becoming stronger.  Growing your battle strength through technological advancement and increasing your mining of resource amounts.

There have been many changes, as online games goes.  Certain contents are gone forever while new contents become the core of the game.  There are certain events that have been a once only and that's what makes online games unique in their own rights.  There has been one cross collaboration event featuring the anime/manga Legend of Galactic Heroes.

Outdoors & Recreational Hobbies / Internet Influencers ????

There's something about the internet.  If it's on it, then it must be true.  NOT  :D

There is a lot of information available and given that there are some people who really do represent that information and making it available to others.

Then there's those internet influencers who merely entertain and regurgitate the information in a misrepresented way.  What is up with all these people online doing youtube unboxing of fishing equipment and then giving their in depth review.  People talking about Diawa and Shimano and don't even know the real difference when it comes down to it.  Yes there will always be a fanboy of a certain manufacture, but do they really know what they're talking about or just throwing words written down somewhere by someone else.

People can't even get their parts descriptions correct like, rotor, pinion gear, level wind, ARB, etc.,...now they just throwing words out there in their vids.

I guess I get bored sometimes...

Three Body

Three Body Problem

Three Body Problem animation version

What a weird series.  Scientist committing suicide because science is broken.  Could we say that science is just another derivative of religion?  Something like that.  I'm all confused and it don't make any sense.  Well partially because there's a problem with the subtitle translation.  Partially is that one probably needs to be a total science geek to understand what half of what they're talking about.

Still gonna watch it and see where it goes...

Ranking of Kings

The anime is low quality, however it is full of powerful emotional motifs.  More of a developing drama in the make than most.  The first episode is only so so, but one can get the feel of the developing plot.  The second episode provides more substance and it where it really gives purpose to this story.

Whoah this one is pretty good.  At first I thought it might be a predictable side story regurgitation, but it is definitely for mature viewers.  Anime quality is only average but the twist a plot is definitely a thriller theme.  One thing about this anime is that the ending of each episode does not leave you hanging.  It does come to a good conclusion and also leaves you looking forward to what the next episode will introduce.

Outdoors & Recreational Hobbies / Fishing Reports

Went down to the St. Croix today.  It's windy, snowing and cloudy.  Temps was freezing with the wind too about 28F degrees.

Well the water level is up and a lot of floating debris from the flooded shoreline.  Of course all the trees and downed timber made it impossible to cast worth anything.  All the  floating debris also meant that every cast you're hooked over something floating.  Mostly dead shoreline grass and other dead vegetation.  So nothing biting.
