After arriving in the refugee camp
Rely on UN food tuna and rice ration

“If you go to America, the giant are going eat you”
The refugees says.
“The American will feed you first to them”
My mom was scared

My OG  uncle experience:


After the US withdraw. My uncle went back to his village and live with his wife.
He try to live a normal life.
A couple of months goes by, the communist laos came looking for them.

He was arrested along with other hmong ex soldiers and place in “re education camp”

My uncle say its like prison. They tied you up so you can’t escape.
During the day, they would go fill bomb cater and clean up the battlefield trash.
He was in prison for a 1.5 years before they let him go.

there was a rumor going around
saying that there are "giant" in america that is going eat you
you will be feed to them  once you arrived in america

pretty crazy stuff
and the funny thing is
alot of them believe it too

You can tell Hmong elders did know America's history very well even when we were still back in the remote camps of Thailand. What the elders were referring to was the exact practice of the real natives of what is now America. They sacrificed human blood and heart to their god--Huitzilopochtli.



The Hmong probably learned of these American giants from the Thais--who were teaching American history but only the original history of this land.

Only the gullible Hmong who had no contacts with the Americans believed the story. And there was only one country that taught American history: Thailand. When Hmong students learned about America from Thai schools, they heard about the continent's sacrificial origin; they didn't hear about the more modern America. That's partly because Thailand didn't have updated info on the modern America then. Plus, Thailand didn't want to teach about American superiority--if it did, lots of its people would have wanted to come to  America more than staying back in Thailand.

The Hmong who were involved with the CIA and its soldiers weren't given this info, because American soldiers never saw giants or sacrifices anymore then; nor did these Hmong fear coming to America upon hearing this story in the camps. They knew from their comrades that there weren't giants here nor any human sacrifices still going on in the 70s.
