I've been to Mexico a few times and it just depends on where you go exactly...

Went to Saltillo, closed to Monterrey. Didn't have a chance to go anywhere... mostly work.

Personally I have not seen or heard of any Hmong family encouraging their younger daughter or any daughter to marry their son-in-law once his wife has passed away... First time I'm hearing it from you guys. Not sure how reliable that is. But I will somewhat take your words for it as it's possible. However, I'm thinking it's not a cultural thing, but rather it's that the two had eyes for one another sort of thing.

I have seen, and know of, a younger cousin marrying another cousin's (who died) wife. None of the brothers wanted to marry their sister-in-law, so the choice was given over to the cousins and one agreed and wanted to... I've heard of the latter, and I believe it's sort of standard that Hmong do this... but not the daughter/sister marrying the brother-in-law.

Had a cousin of mine that treated his in-laws really well and when his wife die, they ask him to marry their younger daughter. He kindly refused because she was too young ( 15 years younger than him). And he says that she was like a sister to him too.

No but quality of education in the ghetto will be inferior to education in a rich neighborhood.  So, if you are unable to go to a rich neighbor school and stay in the ghetto, the odds are against you.  Also, the ghetto environment is makes it difficult to focus on school.  I had friends who grew up in the ghetto and their experience are shocking bad compare to mine.  I went to a small city high school.  I also had friends who work with school in the ghetto.  The environment is just bad that teachers no longer care about teaching.  Other students are so bad that it makes it hard for good students to do well.

Yes, I agree with you but somehow... these people seem to think that their school is rigged against them. I know a few Hmong friends of mine that went to a ghetto school (heart of big city ghetto) and yet they're all college grad, even one of them is a Cardiologist.

And there's the problem... it's not because of the school that are rigged against blacks or latinos... it's the fact that these students have respect and good behavior. They got that from their parents. When the parents don't teach the kids to behave or how important education is, they will fail.

How about taking the responsibiliti es for your kids' education by being an active participants in their school, education, life, etc.
The school is not rigged against blacks, latinos, asian, etc.
All my cousins and relatives went to these same school and yet they were able to go on to college. I grew up with Hmong people that went to majority blacks school and majority of these Hmong people are all college grads. The only ones that aren't are in gangs...

Actually, I think blacks, Latinos, Asian student have special treatment because they get to go to special classes that allows teachers more time to teach them.

Well maybe not new, but just the most hypocritical things.  I'm talking about former US House Speaker Dennis Hastert.  While he was molesting boys, the GOP was busy putting him second in line to become president.

I can't believe this guy wanted to impeach Clinton yet he was a pedophile himself.  GOP, definitely not the party of morals...but of course we all knew that.

You have just learned that the GOP is the same as the Democrats? Wow... amazing.

Do you know all there is about those that claimed to be Democrats? They are just as evil as these GOP... just as immoral. Name me one Democrat that we would all agree is a saint and I'll name one GOP also. If you can't name one, I can't name one either.

Well I'll tell you there are plenty of divorced Hmong people to go around. So you can always find someone. Divorce rates has gone up significantly among Hmong couples.

If you can't trust her than its over. Start by asking friends and family if they can network you with singles.

There are other single women/men that will take a divorce men/women...  I know a few people that were divorce and they end up marrying single girls. Never underestimate the power of "has lug zoo and lug mog". I'm just saying that people are not as picky as they used to be in the old days.

Some are naive and believe that their Hmong American husband will love them, but when they get here. All they are are prisoners... These OGs know that if they let their young wives out into the world, they'll figure out that there are young Hmong men out  there that are available. So, to keep them from straying, they usually keep them at home and keep them busy with babies... I know cause I have seen them.
