Title: Why the shaman party to “fix” the wife before she gets birth?

Sometime the family do it before and after they have the child
Some of the family, i go to.... they skip the “fix” part
And just do combine once the child is born plus the tie string

Is the shaman party to “fix” the wife for labor...  requires??
I talk to two shaman
One say yea
One say no, if you don’t have money

when a hmong woman get pregnant
a shaman party is perform on her to "fix" her
so she don't have hard time giving birth

once she give birth and have the kid
another shaman party is perform
this time for the kid+mom (usually)
string tying, egg, money, and stuff

some shaman party, i go to
they skip the first part of the "fixing" the wife

and just combine both of them together
when they hu plig and ty the string for the baby
