Automotive Discussion / Saying goodbye to my 2001 Acura CL Type S
« on: October 24, 2021, 09:04:04 AM »
Long story short, wife drove car to work and the cat converter got stolen. Thieves jacked up the up on one side and cut out the cat, o2, end of Y tubes and mounting end of rear exhaust. Then dropped car hard on one side and damaged the tranny. Insurance decided to total the car due to the fact that they can't find new OEM parts for a Type S anymore.

RIP my friend.

White with black leather. TL 5 spoke wheels and new shocks & struts for a 2" drop from the monster truck OEM height.

My brother has a C5 and a buddy had a C5Z. I drove them both for long periods of time. I love the design and layout of the car, but man they're cheap POS. Loose plastics, bolts coming undone, flimsy rear bumper, drooping roof carpets and pieces of the interior don't fit right. Squeaks and rattles when you drive it. Handles like a boat compared to other sports cars. Just a terrible piece of American car.  With that said, I still want one. lol  Maybe a C5Z or C6Z with upgraded springs and bushings for a better feel. Intake and mild rumbling exhaust to keep the excitement going when driving it. Also a shifter for a better feel so it doesn't feel like I'm driving a truck. lol

I like all years of Supras. I think each year is really different from the previous. The MKV reminds me more of the 2000GT. The MK4 never really looked like the MK3, because Toyota wanted to make the car better and new from the ground up. Same with MK3, Toyota designed it new too trying to separate it from the name Celica/Supra. MK2 they wanted the Supra to look muscular and perform well. So it was also different from the MK1.

They were all great models IMO, because they were so different.

I have a 2006 Ridgeline and I love it. I don't rock climb or haul boulders or anything so it works fine for me. Its been used for hunting, farming(cattle), moving furniture & appliances, moved motorcycles and riding lawn mowers, traveling/vacation etc etc.. I have about 250xxx miles on it and I've only done the usual upkeep maintenance.

You want a manual to zip around town? The Z is the car for you. You want the best track time and all the amenities of life? Go with the Zupr4. You get what you pay for and Nissan quality was never great.

I really like the design of the Z interior, but not so much the exterior. The q60 engine is just what it needed and should of came with before. I'm excited to see it on the roads.

I wouldn't pick the Z over the Zupr4 just cause its a manual though. There are better cars out there if you just want a manual for 40k.

I have a Ridgeline. AWD is great and I haven't had to do much in repairs except the usual maintenance; 250k miles and running strong;

Congrats man! Saw one in person and I think it looks pretty sweet. Be nice if there's a manual option though IMO since I prefer stick in a pure sports car..but as long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters.. O0

I actually like that its auto; fast shifting and launch control is great. I have 3 other manual cars so its nice to just get in and drive sometimes. I'm getting old is all.  :D

It's probably not a mid-range and up trim Tacoma. A buddy is trying to get a new TRD or a Sport trim Taco but has had a hard time finding one that fits his liking and price due to the pandemic and supply line interruptions. ..

Nah, its the Supra.

I've always enjoyed my time there. If you haven't gotten your vaccination yet? Stay away, or you'll get deep fried intestines with a side of covid.

Just because people don't want to hand out free money doesn't mean they're greedy.  Your money your call.
