What happened to the Senate approved time change bill?

U.S. Congress split on making daylight-saving time permanent

A push in the U.S. Congress to make daylight-saving time permanent, which was unanimously passed by the Senate earlier this year, has stalled in the House, with a key lawmaker telling Reuters they have been unable to reach consensus.

In March, the Senate voted to put a stop next year to the twice-annual changing of clocks, which supporters say will lead to brighter afternoons and more economic activity.

YouTuber MrBeast said he was handing out bundles of $10,000 to trick-or-treaters when one kid tried to give it back in exchange for candy

America's biggest YouTuber MrBeast is known for giving away large sums of money in his videos.

For Halloween, the YouTuber said he gave away iPhones and bundles of $10,000 to trick-or-treaters.

According to the YouTuber, one child tried to trade the money back for some candy.

America's biggest YouTuber MrBeast said he was giving away bundles of cash on Halloween, but that one child tried to hand back $10,000 in exchange for candy.

In a TikTok video posted on November 2, MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, said he was going to give $10,000 to the next trick-or-treater who came through his door in an on-screen caption on the post. The YouTuber then opened the door to reveal a small child standing in front of a small group.

Donaldson could be heard saying, "Hey, here's $10,000," and put a bundle of money in the child's bucket. The child said "thank you," and an adult standing next to the child said, "Oh my gosh, are you serious?"

The child could then be seen taking the bundle of cash and trying to give it back to Donaldson.

"No, no, it's yours. No, keep it," Donaldson said.

The YouTuber then gave the child, and some other children who were standing with him, bars of Feastables, the YouTuber's brand of chocolate products.

Donaldson also tweeted about the encounter on November 3, writing, "I was handing out $10,000 on Halloween and one kid tried to trade the $10k for candy,"

He then shared a screenshot of the child trying to hand him back the cash, with a caption that read, "POV you want a Feastables bar instead of $10,000."

Americans shouldn't drop mail in public mailboxes on Sundays, holidays or after hours: Here's why
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service doesn't recommend dropping mail in blue, USPS mailboxes during these times

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) is reminding the public that they should be careful when mailing cards and gifts over the holiday season.

Americans should be wary of the times they put important mail into blue U.S. Postal Service (USPS) collection mailboxes, according to the law enforcement arm of the national mail service.

"Deposit outgoing mail into blue collection boxes before the final pick up of the same day of deposit," a spokesperson for the USPIS told Fox News Digital.

"Check the pick-up schedule posted on the box to ensure your mail will not sit in the box overnight or over the weekend; and use the letter slots inside your Post Office for your mail, or hand it to a letter carrier," the agency’s statement continued.

The USPIS noted that the federal mail system is one of the "safest and most trusted ways" to send gifts and greeting cards to family and friends.

Though, the agency told Fox News Digital that it encourages all customers to follow mail theft prevention tips offered by the USPIS to safeguard mailed letters and gifts.

The USPS reportedly delivers mail to more than 100 million addresses, according to the USPIS.

A local Postal Inspection Service office wrote in a recent press announcement that criminals tend to target collection mailboxes "after the last collection of the day or during Sundays and federal holidays."

"If customers simply used retail service or inside wall drop slots to send their U.S. Mail, instead of depositing it to sit outside overnight or through the weekend, blue collection boxes would not be as enticing after business hours to mail thieves for identity theft and check-washing schemes," the local mail inspection office wrote.

In a "Neighborhood Watch: Protect Your Mail!" flyer issued by the USPIS, Americans who feel they can’t trust the collection mailbox in the area they live in are advised to place mail in a collection mailbox in another area or use a secure mail receptacle at their place of business.

Suspicious activity, mail or identity theft, fraud, and seemingly tampered mailboxes that have glue, tape or a sticky substance attached to it should be reported to the USPIS, the agency’s flyer says.

The USPIS can be contacted by phone through its national hotline at 877-876-2455.

Other mail theft prevention tips the USPIS offers customers include picking up mail promptly and not letting it sit in mailboxes overnight and contacting issuing agencies right away if important or valuable aren’t received as expected – such as checks, credit cards or negotiable items.

The USPIS says customers should notify the postal service if they change their address or are going away on a trip and need their mail held at a facility until they return. The agency also advises against mailing cash.

USPS customers have the option to sign up for the postal service’s Informed Delivery notification service, which sends daily email notifications of incoming mail and packages.

The USPIS reportedly investigates and arrests thousands of mail thieves each year, according to a "Mail & Package Theft" page on the agency’s website.

US investigates lawmaker tied to halal certification company, says report
A federal probe into IS EG Halal, which certifies halal exports to Egypt, is being linked to Senator Bob Menendez, according to The New York Times

...In order for a product to be certified as halal, it must meet strict processing and preparation standards and cannot include ingredients that are prohibited by Islamic law, including pork or alcohol.

In court papers seen by The New York Times, Hana acknowledged he had no expertise in halal certification when he began operating the business in 2019.

He said that the Egyptian government had given him resources to ensure that exported products complied with Islamic law.

"As I am a Christian, I am not experienced in halal certification, so the Egyptian government has provided imams and trained veterinarians to assist me," Hana said.

Cairo imports roughly 300,000 tonnes of halal beef from retailers worldwide, according to US government reports, and is the only US trading partner that requires all its imported halal meat to be certified by a single company.

After Egypt disqualified the four previously designated companies, the price paid by retailers to get certified halal beef was expected to increase to about $200 a metric ton, up from about $20, according to a USDA report.

He was accused of stealing huge amounts of water over 23 years. Here’s why no one noticed

A criminal case unfolding in the San Joaquin Valley underscores how the federal government seems to have similar problems.

Prosecutors say they uncovered a massive water theft that went on for 23 years without anyone noticing.

Earlier this year a federal grand jury indicted Dennis Falaschi, the former general manager of the Panoche Water District in the western San Joaquin Valley, on charges of conspiracy, theft of government property and filing false tax returns.

Falaschi’s alleged crime stemmed from the federal government’s operation of the Central Valley Project, the system of reservoirs and canals that dates to President Franklin Roosevelt’s administration .

According to prosecutors, Falaschi engineered a brazen scheme to steal $25 million worth of water from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, operator of the Central Valley Project. More specifically, Falaschi stands accused of having his underlings siphon water from the Delta-Mendota Canal, the main conduit for delivering federal water to farms along the west side of the San Joaquin Valley and part of Silicon Valley.

He then billed Panoche customers for this stolen water and used the proceeds to pay “himself and other co-conspirators exorbitant salaries, fringe benefits and personal expense reimbursements,” the indictment says.

Ice-T And Coco Austin Explained Why They Are A “One And Done” Family
The rapper and TV personality were originally unsure if they wanted any kids at all.

It’s becoming more and more common for parents to stop having kids after their first. According to Pew research, the rate of only-child families doubled from 11% to 22% between 1976 and 2014. Today, the percentage of families with only one child — the fastest-growing segment of the childbearing population — is estimated to be as much as roughly one-third.

While the reasons for only having one kid vary, rapper Ice-T, 64, and his wife Coco Austin, 43, know exactly why they stopped after their now 6-year-old daughter, Chanel.

While walking the blue carpet at Heidi Klum’s epic Halloween party, the Law and Order actor told Us Weekly, that they felt complete as a family of three.

“Nah. We’re one and done. One and done,” the rapper said.

Ice-T explained that Austin wasn’t sure if she wanted kids at all but as she got older, having just one child felt right for their plans. “Coco didn’t really want to have babies and then when she hit 35, she got the bug,” he added. “She’s like ‘I gotta do it.’ And so, we had the baby.”

...It’s great that celebrity couples like Ice-T and Coco are breaking the stigmas associated with only child families, being honest about their life as a family of three, and truly embracing having just one child.
