Computer & Technology / Re: Does anyone use Adsense on their site?
« on: May 06, 2013, 11:39:41 PM »
Thanks!  My CTR is very low.

For some reason my ads are on hold.  I think it's because I never provided my info.  I've just updated them so we'll see what happens.

You have to provide your info.  They'll send you a 1099-MISC form at the end of the year that you file with your taxes.

What's your ballpark figure per month? Mind sharing your sites?

My site is in my signature.  $10/day.  I used to update it everyday, but been slacking.  Have not updated in 4 months, but revenue has been increasing slightly...hav e done some promo like posting in related forum, asking for site review, got my site reviewed at hongkiat.com is probably the best traffic, next to google traffic, which accounts for 50%.

I know PH uses it.  What's your ballpark income from it and what are some of the things you have done to improve it?
I've been using it for about 3 years and wondering if I'm missing something or we can share info.

Computer & Technology / Re: Home Theater Cinema
« on: March 01, 2013, 11:18:58 AM »
Thanks for all the input guys. What i have in mind for a home theater cinema system is a projector, 120" screen and a desktop with sound system. Anyone has this setup?

That would be nice but you'd need a dark room to use it.

I have three setup.  Small but works for me.
1) Living room - 55" Plasma, in-wall surround sound thx 5 speakers, htpc using mini mac.
2) Game room - 55" LED, 3D, bluray - xbox, wii, ps3.
3) Bedroom - 42" Plasma, in-wall surround sound, WDC Live for tv/movies and access to NAS.
They're all connected to a NAS that hold all my movies, music and photos.

Some people are always doing something new.

True, but I think doing something new is better because you'll be the first and reap all the rewards.  Just wondering why someone would join a Facebook-clone when they can just use the real Facebook where everyone is on?

Computer & Technology / Re: Creating Phone Apps
« on: September 18, 2012, 09:23:28 PM »
lisa, i don't think you need an app.  although phone apps are all the rage now, it isn't for everyone.  you should go with a mobile site or a responsive site.

creating an app is a lot of work, even for someone that has a programming or web development background.  if you want to create an app for iphone or ipad, first thing you need is a mac and an apple developers license.

if you already have a company site, i would suggest a responsive site.  this will cater to both desktop and mobile users.  if you already have an existing site, you could create a mobile site.

with a mobile site, later down the road, you can convert it to a phone app using a wrapper like phonegap.

Sprint 3g is sooooo slow where I am, but the price is cheap.   I pay $50/mth for iPhone plan w/500 min.  My wife has the $30 sero plan.
