Before driving off the lot, the staff gave us a run down on how things work and did a walk around kind of like renting a car:

If you don't want to go to a RV parking, you can park at places like Walmart:

One of the things they asked us to do is check the transmission oil every now and then especially when there's a lot of uphill driving involved. If it's low, add some and they'll reimburse you. Much cheaper than transmission repairs and/or replacement on their end. I checked the motor oil level too while I'm at it:

Reddish pink color, tranny oil:

Cool!  How was the experience?

Good "experience" overall Mr_Mech.  O0

Biggest plus:

No hotels needed as there's everything to meet one's basic needs on board like bed, bathroom, shower, and kitchen (range, fridge, microwave)

Biggest minus:

MPG...we were only averaging 9-10 MPG

And not that big of a deal but the shower area is a bit tight for an above average size person like me.

Nice.  My friend rented an 18 foot RV and he drove from CA to NC.  That thing was huge.

We rented the "compact plus" model which is 20.5 foot long and it was not too bad overall. Ride was smooth and small enough to easily maneuvering it around.

The thought of retiring and just traveling on rv sounds enticing and adventurous. A good way to find out is rv rental. Do continue sharing your experiences.

Doesn't hurt to have a rv, many folks who do, use it as a extra room when it's just park on the side of their house or driveway...lol s perfect for football games and bbq'ing..See some people with RV's in town do that. it's like a little play house when its not being driven. If anything, its perfect for frontyard or backyard camping...lols
