Title: Ducatis arent reliable, they said...
Post by: Pocket Aces on July 31, 2015, 08:35:33 PM
....so, I bought one. I was at my local Ducati dealerto purchase an 899, but I wasnt too keen on their OTD prices (16k +), thats Aprilia RSV4 money. F.uck that!! Anyway, this little gem was sitting near the corner of the Duc section, I inquired about it and walked away with her.

what happened to the forum? its so dead now.

Congrats man! O0

The new ones "899" and 1299 gens appear to be more reliable than previous older gens. They also have longer service intervals so that should save you some money. However, the service charge is still high if you take it in to a Duc dealership for service relatively speaking.

Why forum is so dead?

Not that many Hmong riders.

Even though there's a lot more Hmong drivers and car owners, the Auto forum is kind of dead too...so you can see why in the 2 wheel forum.

Enjoy your new Ducling!

thanks king, you are right about the longer maintenance intervals for the panigale (major service at 15k miles) and expect to pay $1k-2k for this service. Makes you future panigale owners think twice about purchasing, dun it?

My nephew had an 1198 and I took it for a spin a few times and the handling is very crisp. Never ridden an 848 but I'm sure the 848 feels the same too. The obvious difference is power and wet vs. dry clutch as both look almost identical. He did all the maintenance himself to save money. The only time he took it to the dealership is for to the infamous "bubble in the gas tank" issue. They replaced the tank.

Go nekkid as those models have a real handlebar and the seating position is standard/upright so very comfy on longer trips for many O0. I might pick something like this up next:

Actually, motos can only do "120-130mph max" even a Busa according to a guy (Blongforever) that's never ridden one before. Yeah same guy you said don't know much about bikes so your Raider is fine as it can already do the maximum "speed" of "120-130mph"... ;D ;D ;D

I can see myself owing a Tourer like a Wing someday but not quiet ready yet so I can see a Sport-Tourer in my future first i.e., VFR 1200, FJR, BMW 1600 GT, etc...
