Mother focker! Good bye 2020 gains, and some 2019 gains. :'(
Better brace for more loss, this isn't over yet. When coronavirus spreads in the US, shits gonna hit the fan.
-
buy wuhan vaccine stocks and hoping for a pop
that is if there is a pop but you got a whole year cuz vaccines do take a long time to mass produce to the general public.
A company that starts with the letter M just got a vaccine for clinical trail on humans. While the market was red, she popped. 0 debt, undervalued. Just how I liked it.
-
I’ve been reading about coronavirus for a month. It’s not an epidemic no more. It’s a pandemic. The mortality rate is 1-2%. The acceleration has leveled off. Even if it comes to the US it like the flu.

i don't think you are doing any better
LOL

Remember this
You only gain or lose if you sell.
As long as the company is still in business, your valuation should be the same price as you bought it. Good players tend to buy more on the dip. Take all the cheapies from the weak hands.

Trying not to look at the portfolio. Just wanna cry when I do.
I bought a little yesterday and today. Gonna keep buying once or twice a week chipping at it bit by bit.
Who knows when this will turn around. Like I said, I'm still waiting for when this hits the US.

That's true, not even sure we're at the bottom yet, but right now is a pretty good time to buy though. I think whether you buy now or later, you'll be good in the long run. To tell you the truth, I suck at trying to time the market, so I just buy when I have the funds and try not to overthink if the price is low or up high. I think overall, it's going to be about the same result in the long run.

Why are you "bleeding like a woman on menstruation period" for years now when you can just pick the high return stocks to be a big "fish" since you're the "hmong Nostradamus and is always right"? ???
we all got wipe out YTD
I'm surprised you didn't see that coming since you're the "hmong Nostradamus and is always right"? ???

True bro, I'm still waiting for when this spreads in the US. That's when it'll hit the bottom.
Hey I"ve got a couple stock that's nearing red, losing all my gains. I'm thinking of selling those and buy them back later on when the price is lower since I'm thinking it will go even lower.
What do you think?

What do you think?
how's your tax situation??
if you sell and realized gains, uncle same is going take 25% capital gain tax (depending on how long you hold it,short term or long term)
if i sell all my position. im going pay like $50k-100k just in tax alone to uncle sam
too much hassel
plus i got like 30 years mores till retirement
my advice is:
if the stock is a good company and you think it can weather the storm
just hold
if you are scared, and have weak hand, just sell 10-30% of it
and rebuy when it hits the bottom
-
I won't have any gains, it's gonna be in the red very shortly. I'm not selling any that is still green.
I will have some that is about $100-200 red. I think it will go lower.
-

in that case
you won't owe uncle sam much tax
cuz the gain is small
if the company is good, i will just sell like 10-30% of it

you never want to get out of the market 100%
because you do get dividend and etc...
and overtime, that helps you out
instead you should be rebalancing
i wrote a thread on that

I'm not getting out, I'm selling 10% of my stocks, the ones that are hitting red.
Gonna either rebalance or wait out for the bottom to buy back in.

I’m not selling any
My hands and mind are strong
Im actually going buy more tomorrow when i get pay O0
-
It actually might go green today, so I made a bad choice. Oh well, live and learn.
90% of my portfolio haven't been touched so I'm fine. And I'll put these $$ back to work next week, so it should be minimal loss.
And if the market does tank more, I'll have these funds to buy cheaper shares. Now I'm rooting for the market to go down more.

Also don’t buy with all your money
I add a little bit at a time
$500 here
$1000 there

Kinda like poker
Keep your cards close

Don't worry. I'm keeping it strong. Not gonna touch anything anymore. LOL
I remember back in 2018. I lost $60k in Sept-Dec. I never touched my account and it all recovered a few months later.

Time to make money!! AI isn’t going to just go away. ;)

Don't think some can "make money" in the money and investment area...not even enough common sense to know the common knowledge fact that places like E-Trade has insider information.. ;D
-
I'm gonna buy after Super Tuesday.
-
I switched to swing trading and I'm as RED as everyone because I didn't look at the market for 2+ weeks. In hindsight, I should have exited the market then I would be plus 15%. Looking at it yesterday, my 2020 profits are gone and some 2019 because the stocks I was holding was all tech.
No worries...what goes up must come down and what goes down must come up. Needless to say, don't torment yourself. Keep 6 months of cash under your bed (bank account), have no debt, and you cool as ice.
Once I have clarity and focus I'll day trade. Had I been day trading these would have been the virus stocks I normally trade, CODX, OPGN, NNVC, VXRT, APT, etc... all ran this week. You could have in and out for 1-15 minutes depending on the price action and made loot...knowing this, I didn't feel like trading this week because the rule is trade with a clear mind. Too much bullshit around me, which is why I stopped active day trading.
I might trade next week, but unlikely...rig ht now 70% stocks, and will probably shift to 100% stock in by the end of the week for the upswing. I normally hold 50% stock max so I did dip buy this week and increased it to 70%.
Nothing to panic...cash is trash, and being printed...nowh ere to put your money. everyone holding too much cash will regret it later.

c'mon man
don't miss this rocketship to the moon

No worries man. Talking about portfolio cash not all my cash. Lol! Who the hell puts their rainy day fund in the stock market? That’s not how it works.

I’m so far in that a light swing either direction will cause a heart attack.

It's volatile...Sup er Tuesday will swing it 2-3% up or down. I'm a classical liberal (aka moderate) and so I'm hoping Biden wins. With that said, I really like Bernie but dude wants to spend like crazy. We have to be flexible. For example, remove the cap on social security tax. Raise social security tax on salary up to 300k versus 135k per person. Increase the progressive tax rate to 55%. Raise sales tax by 0.5% across the country to fund sustainability and health innovation initiatives. Remove the loopholes the rich are using. Increase tax credits like education, healthcare, child care, and etc... which will help create a sustainable future.
The whole conservative movement of attacking the government and shrinking it down to nothing has proven to be a disaster because schools are failing, healthcare spending out of the country but doesn't help people get healthy, work stress, suicide, etc... all-time high. We do need some level of government, and we need to make it accountable and to do that they can simply run LEAN and TQM principles if they wanted to.

I bet the percentage of the "population" that know the common knowledge of places like E-Trade have "inside information" is higher...

Oh, it must feel nice to be a Bernie fan and be above the 30% line right? :2funny:
