Title: Tire Talk
Post by: Finest on May 12, 2011, 10:11:31 AM
Hey guys, just trying to drum up some more conversation in here since riding season is in full swing.  (not this week though, fuggin rain!)

What tires do you guys recommend for a mainly street driven bike?  I'm estimating that I'll do about 50/50 street and highway riding, with a few twisties thrown in on the weekends when I get more comfortable with the bike.  But I'm going to try and make this my daily work transportation when the weather permits.  What tires will last for a season or two, without having flat spots from street riding mostly?  I've got my eyes on the Pilot Pures, but heard they're a little softer for street duty.  The Pilot 2's seem to be a better compound for what I'm looking for.

Any other suggestions?   O0

...your Mits EVO might become second string to you soon.  ;D

;D  They both share the same garage, so they're like best friends!

Here's a quick chart I found comparing the Michelin line of tires:

According to this, I'll probably move towards the Pilot Road 2's.

HP, how many miles are you getting out of your 2CT's?

Yea, but isn't the Pilot Power's a monoblock compound?  Meaning it'll flatten in the middle if I'm just riding along?

Otherwise, the 2CT's look like the best from that lineup.  Any other brands to consider for let's say under $500/pair?  I want them to last at least a season or two.

Michelin 2CT will go 2500-3000 if you are nice to your throttle.
Bridgestone BT-016 will go 2500-3000 if you are also nice.

Michelin Pilot Pure, 2000-2500 if you are nice.
Bridgestone BT-003R 1500-2000 if you are NOT nice.

Michelin Road 2/Road 3, 3500-4000(I've even heard farther) if you play nice.
