Title: help me diagnose a problem. thanks!
Post by: michaelvang85 on August 21, 2010, 05:09:17 AM
well, an uncle of mine wanted me to fix his broken computer. it's a dell dimension c521 tower.
there is a beep code error of 2-short and 1-long beep. there is no display sent to the monitor.
according to beep codes online, 1-long and 2-short beeps are graphics failure.
just wondering if it's the same, since in the case of this computer, it's the 2 short beeps that come before the 1 long one.
the graphics is also onboard, so i don't know if it may be the motherboard altogether.
just didn't want to readily assume it's the graphics, and go shell out money on a cheap pci card or something.
damn dell case is also a low-profile case, so i need to find a lo-profile card/brackets as well.
i realllly don't want to go buy something 'new' for such an old computer.

Try clearing the bios.  If that doesn't work, not much you can do if it's 2 short, 1 long beeps.
