Title: cant ping my router, WTF?

Whats the main reason y i cant ping my router from another computer outside my network? I have a linksys wrt54gs router.i ran some software n it says my port is closed.called Comcast n they cant ping my router either.trying to hookup a security system via internet on dns server.i can connect to the security system fro home so i know it works.

It can only be one of the 3:

1.  Router configuration
2.  Modem/ISP
3.  The remote location

Be at this I would try reconfiguring the router first as the main issue.

I can't ping my router either especially when that router belongs to my next door neighbor.

Your linksys has an spi and by default it does not allow any response to icmp on the wan port.  You have to manually configure it to respond to icmp on the wan port.

You can't ping your router via wifi.
