Title: Alienware M15X Laptop: No Power
Post by: Gutts on July 10, 2011, 06:54:29 PM
effing great!  My m15x laptop just crapped out on me the other day.  What's worse, is that my warranty with Dell expired a few months ago too.  So um.. yeah.. what to do with this piece?  Send it in to have it serviced (for a large sum) or get a new laptop & try to salvage the parts?

I'm pretty sure it was the Mobo that died.

Open the laptop and replace that small battery inside.  If that doesn't work try removing the main battery cartridge, then plug in the power cord and power on the laptop.

Update:

I actually had to purchase an extended warranty ($300+ an additional expiration fee of course).  The unit arrived at their repair facilities in Houston yesterday.  It's currently being worked on at the moment.

I figure,

I spent $2k on that piece & with the specs on it, it's not worth purchasing a new one at the price of the extended warranty.
