I don't work in IT but knows someone. I just don't know if his company is hiring but I can check to see if they have openings.

try websites that post jobs.
also check craiglist.

I've been in IT for about a decade so I'm quite familiar with online resources. What I'm looking for is a personal reference. We know it's who you know and not what you once you have been in the field long enough.
Thanks guys

Too bad, if you are in the bay area, I have a cousin working at Cisco and 2 others who is also in the IT field such. Here in MN, I don't really know anyone. Good luck on your search. Did you just move to MN?
Yes, ST.
All the way from the nice and hot state of SC.
Thanks for trying.

Welcome to Minnesota. I hope you find something soon. If I know anyone, I will let you know. :)
Thank you again, sweet tears. Been away from Hmong too long. It feels strange.
Yesterday I was at Maplewood Toyota and it was weird hearing Hmong names being called over and over and over.
Need to definitely adjust.

IT jobs in mn takes networking and harder to break in if you aren't grounded. I find a lot of these IT folks are smart but they aren't too open in networking or helping a brother. You might need to do some temps job in IT to get some resume enhancements and know which companies are good or what not.
Definitely true, Rock. I remember the young days of Pebhmong about 10 years ago. I see some difference now (in the IT forum) but not much has changed.

I think it is all IT folks in general...
Bro if you know SAS, I have a job for you. Wfh as well.
Not much of a developer though I do have some programming experience.
Willing to take a chance though but is have to get more details to determine if I can do it.

I'm in the software development field and I don't know many networking professionals, unfortunately. I do know two of them though, msg me with your linkedin I'll patch you through to these guys. They're a bit young but they should at least help point you in the right direction. Just tell 'em we know each other.
Oh, and uh... let's not mention anything about ph ;)

PH is like Vegas my friend. Whatever that happens here... stays here. :-X
Thanks. I'll return the favor if one day you need something. I mean it.

It is more of a db analyst... They want 2yrs of SAS experience.
well... databases, especially MS SQL Server and mySQL is not foreign to me. In my administration experience, I work with SQL and DB design (not very complex ones), backup/restore/maintenance/normalization on a routine basis.
I'm familiar with asp/vb/vbscript that uses DBs as their backbone as well. I actually have a year (a decade ago) of VB experience.
-
Well, the job isn't about admin a sql server, you can if you want. Data designed isn't expected right off the bat. You will learn the data structure with experience. In retro spect, it is to grab large volume of data from data warehouse and managed the data set.
SSIS is good as a back bone with vb.net to create streamline process but I'm not good with it.
I've messed around with SSIS but not comfy enough to say I have experience with it. I think I'll stick to Infrastructure :D

Just gonna throw my 2 cents out there...
I work in the IT world but i'm not gonna give a referral unless I know you. Just because we're hmong doesn't mean we are all hard workers. Doesn't mean i don't want to get to know you either...lol
If you have a solid background as you mentioned, than I say you shouldn't have too much trouble looking for a job.
Good luck!

I found a job and started yesterday. Most of us are in the field too long and we know that once you've obtained enough knowledge, it's who you know. I was just looking for that part.
Thanks to all those who gave the effort.
