Title: Flying car, anyone?
Post by: Moob Lajleeb on March 18, 2015, 06:54:15 AM
Will this cause a surge in people wanting to learn how to piloting a plane/car?

I also read this article yesterday.  I would love to have one, but I'm not sure if it's economically viable for middle classers like me to own one as early as 2017.  Maintenance costs, fueling, storage, regulations, etc.

You know when I was a child I wanted a flying car but now that I'm older the last thing I want are Americans flying like idiots over me.

With any luck auto-pilot will be mandatory.

There will be autonomous automobiles soon.  I'm sure humans will still find a way to screw it up.

Yeah, with the driverless car that Google and a few other companies are working on it now, would that lead to one day it will be against the law to actually have a human driven car?

Or by that time, we all would be so old that we would rather not driving anymore and actually enjoy the chauffeuring without having to pay for a chauffeur?

This will never work. Only a fools dream. 1) you will need a pilot license to fly. 2) it will cost as much as a GTR, maybe more so that rules out 99% of the people who can own it. 3) dumb asses will be falling from the skys and into your house killing you. 4) you will need to take off/land at an airport. But hey a sucker born everyday so make that deposit.

Personal choppers have been around for a while and they are fairly cheap at around 30k,  if that hasn't took off yet, I don't think flying cars will either.   No pun intended

Insurance rate would be crazy high, mandatory life insurance would have to be mandated
