I've been living in this environment for 7 years now. Who here use only linux? Arch? BSD? Debian? Ubuntu? Mint? OpenSuse?
or work with Redhat? CentOS? using various programs from Oracle VM, VMware etc. ::)

I was using fedora until recently. Been on Ubuntu since, it's been 1 year now. Use it everyday at home, no spyware/viruses/maleware crap to worry about when I'm surfing my fav websites.

Only when I want to watch teh p0rnz

I used pretty much all of them. As a matter of fact I'm planning on studying for my Linux exam so I can get that certificate and be certify in Linux. I'm guessing having certificates gives you a higher chances of being a potential candidate in the IT field.....I have quiet the known as a Windows Server Administrator but I still haven't got any certificates or my degree yet....Sucks so much because I almost gave up but I'm still digging through that dirt. On the other side I see $$$...
Windows 10 is out for developer as well....My brother got his hands on it and I did too, the only thing that really changes was there is now a start icon with a task bar.....

Don't waste your time getting certified. Most people in the industry don't pay attention to what the certification test is like and if you were to ask me, I would say "It must be like Microsoft where it's multiple choice versus practical and therefore, people can just memorize answers."
If you say you know linux, they'll test you on it; everything from the simple stuff to shell scripting.
If you're trying to get a job, focus on learning CentOS or SuSE. For your desktop, install Fedora since it's RPM based.
If you're doing it just to learn and play with it at home, Ubuntu or Fedora will do. LinuxMint is based on Ubuntu or Debian...just depends on which package you choose.
But in general, most(maybe all) are either based on RPM or DEB these days.

Stick with RedHat and/ or Sun Solaris - if you are going to get a job in IT
I like that idea. O0

I used it when I was a student. Now I use a Mac but I still ssh to a Linux server to do some work.

The latest Mac is X. The laptop is 2013.

Eh Linux and Mac OS X are based on unix anyways.
-
I have a Hackintosh! :D Since I can't afford a legit Macintosh.

I used Ubuntu several years ago and haven't touch it since. It's a great OS, just couldn't use it because I'm use to accessing systems remotely and couldn't figure out how with Ubuntu. I guess I will stick to Windows for now.

linux gets so boring if youre not running anything important on it..
