As a kid, I only had one pair of shoes. I wore those shoes until my mom felt they were finally torn, or if I finally outgrew them. Suits. Shorts. Pants. Same shoes. Sometimes, they still weren't replaced when they got old. Now that I am older and that there isn't a need to be as frugal, I find myself with many shoes. In fact, I have bought quite a lot of shoes over the years. Here is my list of shoes that I have owned (I am sure I have forgotten some shoes)...
1. Asics Gel Nimbus 17
I just bought this shoe this week, and this purchase reminded me of my shoe history (and thus this thread). Asics were the first real "brand" of shoe I have ever owned. As a kid, I often owned the Wal Mart shoes or Target shoes or whatever. I felt cool with my Asics as a kid. It was even cooler when I learned that Asics were volleyball shoes because I played volleyball.
I eventually stopped wearing Asics in favor of other shoes. However, I recently needed some walking/running shoes, and Asics got really good reviews. So, I got the Asics Gel Nimbus 17. They are really soft. Asics claims it is the gel, but I could swear it feels more like foam. In any case, they feel good for this type of shoe.
And yes, I got them in the ugly lime green. They apparently didn't have any other colors in my size. Runners must like bright shoes to show off. For me, these shoes aren't for style, so I don't care.

Shed one single tear. :'( Cool shoes.

2. Rockport Northfield Waterproof
As a kid, I just wore whatever sneakers I had even when I wore my Sunday bests. In college, I had some suits, but I still went cheap on the shoes because I simply didn't wear a suit often enough to justify better dress shoes. Now that I am older, I spend a little more on dress shoes. One of my more recent purchases are these Rockports. I like Rockport because I find them comfortable. I am not really sure why they are waterproof. They are low cuts, so if it rained, I would still most likely get wet. Oh well. These shoes are technically considered "casual," but I wear them with suits.
I am sure some people spend much more paper on dress shoes, but I can't seem to justify it for myself.
Funny thing though...I've recently been preferring sneakers with suits. I guess my mom was just ahead of the fashion curve.

Why a tear?

Why a tear?
Because you only had one pair of shoes like me too. :'(
-
All is well that ends well. That history just makes me appreciate what I have now. You should make a list of your shoes, too. :D

To this day I have not own any nice shoes that is worth more than $40. :-[ Guess Im just not a materialistic person. I own a Sketcher walking shoe.

3. Columbia Peak Freak
I was planning on a mountain summit in China, and I needed some shoes. The mountain was about 12,000ft, and the hike needed more than sneakers, but nothing hardcore. I decided on these. They weren't the best that I tried, but they were on sale, and I wasn't sure how many times I would wear them again. At the time, they seemed like a wise purchase.
I finished the summit, and the shoes held up well. Unfortunately, the shoes no longer feel as comfortable as before, but they still look quite nice. I now use them on rainy days since they are waterproof and fairly light.

To me, shoes are utility. They get me where I want to go. BTW, nothing wrong with a $40 shoe.

You have good taste in shoes. I like them all. O0

Its good to invest $$ in shoes that doesn't hurt your feet. >:(
-
Really? I think those Asics are ugly. When I wear them with jeans, they just stick out. I suppose they look okay with shorts. Plus, I have owned plenty of ugly shoes. You'll see later.
Talking about investing in shoes so that they don't hurt your feet...That was the reason for me buying my own first pair of shoes.

Maybe I just have poor taste. Lol But they look alright to me.

Don't knock the Velcro. I want some black on white Velcro Adidas. Maybe the 3 stripes Superstars or the Stan Smith with the old school logo. I just haven't found them yet. I could just order them, but I like the feeling of finding the shoe in person. I think they would look good in jeans or a suit. Adidas don't seem to make their Superstars in Velcro for adults.

4. Timberland Earth Keepers
Growing up, I didn't have a lot of trendy brands. I would be envious of other kids. Strangely enough, now that I am older, I actually don't like wearing a lot of clothes with logos and branding. When I see people who do this, I just can't help but think they are a walking advertisement. As a result, I try to keep everything to a minimum. Whenever I am out casually, I tend to prefer walking boots because of their basic look. Enter Timberland. I am not really a fan of Timberland, but my previous boots ripped while I was on a motorcycle. Although they are not the most comfortable, I like the look. Plus, they are light. I got quite a lot of mileage on them now. The leather looks much better aged. I hope to get more life out of them by putting in new insoles.

5. Reebok The Answer 1
When I started college, I started having shin splints. I just figured it was from years of playing sports, and it was finally catching up to me. However, a friend of mine said I should actually try getting some real shoes. So far, I have just been wearing my one pair of shoes my mom bought me. The shoes I had were over 4 years old. I didn't grow much in high school, so my shoes still fit. I didn't quite believe him, but he was insistent that my problem was my shoes. I had some money to spend, so why not.
The next day we went to an outlet shoe store. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on shoes. After trying on different pairs, I decided on the Allen Iverson shoe. I would have preferred them in black, but they didn't have any. I settled on the red.
I played with the shoes for the week. My friend was right. My shin splints disappeared. Also, I realized how much more precise my movements were with better shoes. No more slipping. I know that sounds weird, but I always just assumed it was just me.
The Answer 1 were the first shoes I personally bought. Reebok came out with a re-release of The Answer 1. It even came out in black; the original color I wanted. I wanted to buy it, but I was too slow. They pulled it off the market before I pulled the trigger. Maybe next time.
I would continue to buy shoes for special purposes for years to come.

6. Reefs sandals
I am sure these particular sandals have a specific name, but I don't know it. Anyways, I got these on my trip to Bali. I was going to just wear sneakers around, then go barefoot on the beach. However, that wasn't practical once I was there. I was never a big flip flop kind of guy, but I gave these a go. As it turns out, they were quite comfortable. And the coolest part, the sandals came with a bottle opener. It came in handy sitting on the beach with friends watching the Sun go down.
The sandals are currently being used as house slippers. Come to think of it, I should have listed the current status of all these shoes on this list. Oh well.

When I was in high school my mom bought me a cheap shoe from Kmart by the brand Soho. During gym class the guy sitting across from me was kind of bugging me and then he sees my shoes and says "Soooooo...ho.. ." >:(

7. Under Armor Torch II
I've owned quite a few basketball shoes over the years. When I used to play a lot, I would wear flashy ones. Basketball is a showman's game, so I might as well show off. These days, I don't play as much, and I am not quite the same player I used to be. I try to pick black shoes to match my black workout/basketball outfit. Enter Under Armor Torch II. These shoes were good the first few weeks, but cushioning system seemed to wear out quicker than other shoes. Also, the support isn't as good as some of the Nike's or Adidas. That being said, they look cool, and Micro G is responsive. Also, the lacing system is really good.

And what was your comeback? I would have said, "Yooooooo Mama!"

8. Rockport Rugged Bucks
These are actually my favorite casual boots.
As I mentioned earlier, I had shin splints during my early college days. I got new basketball shoes for sports, but I still needed some regular shoes for everyday. Rockports were recommended to me, and they did not disappoint. The shoes are really old now. I might be able to get new life out of these shoes with new insoles, but they have since been demoted to work boot status now. Like most leather shoes, they look better with age. The boots currently sit at my parents' house.
I've been meaning to get a new pair, but the Rockport stores never seem to have them in stock whenever I go by. I could order, but as I said before, I like the feeling of finding a shoe in person.

9. Skechers Cool Cat Bully 2
I was going to take a trip to China, and I wanted some new boots. It was going to be cold and possibly wet. I left my Rockports at my parents' home, so I needed new ones. I really wanted another pair of Rockports, but they didn't have any. I was bummed, and I didn't want to drop a lot of cake on shoes that I may or may not like. So, I decided on these Skechers. They were cheap, and they look cool. The downside was that they weren't comfortable. I thought they would eventually break in, but they didn't. Walking around in China was a pain, especially when we went up to the Great Wall.
A somewhat funny story about these shoes...I got pulled out of line by Chinese airport security wearing these shoes. Being Asian, they assumed I was Chinese. After a moment of confusion, they realized I wasn't Chinese. It turned out that they wanted to inspect my shoes. I told them the shoes were new and that they weren't that comfortable if they were interested in them. They laughed. They checked the shoes quickly, and I was on my way. Apparently smuggling drugs with boots had been a problem.
The shoes are currently sitting at my parents' home. These being the third boots on my list, you can get a hint at what type of shoes I like.

I don't remember. I don't think I said anything really other than just gave him an attitude. I'm not good with comebacks. :( And I'm too nice.

10. Crocs
I needed some shoes to throw in the car, wear in the house, slip on for a trip around the block, the beach, whatever. So, I got some Crocs. I originally liked the softness. I bought quite a few different colors throughout the years; black, blue, brown, green, and black/white. Although I originally liked them, I now don't like them that much because of the lack of support. Also, they wear out so quickly. I still use the shoes randomly.

:2funny: I have one of those green crocs too ! A black one..
-
It's kinda hard trying to find pictures of some of my older shoes, especially in the correct colors.
-
11. Adidas 3 Series
As I began traveling a bit more, I started playing more outdoor basketball. Well, my basketball shoes did not appreciate this. They got destroyed. Playing outdoors seems to wear out shoes faster. I needed new shoes, but I didn't want to spend too much money on them because I was going to wear them outside. I found these cheap Adidas. They aren't the best shoes, but they come in black.
The shoes are currently in my shoe rack. They are old and torn up now. I should throw them away, but I still use them whenever it rains and I still want to go shoot outside. Maybe I should demote the Under Armor to this duty and throw these out.

-
In response to the Nike 3.0...
Those are really cool shoes. They are really light. However, I am not the free/barefoot type. Maybe I just need to get used to it. I might try a pair for the long-term if I find any for cheap.
-
12. Reebok The Answer 2
I was a bit sad when my first basketball shoes finally wore out. I wanted to buy the same shoe, but I couldn't find them anymore. Instead, I found the upgraded model at an outlet store. The Answer 2. This shoe was much lighter than the first. It was actually branded as DMX Lite. I liked these better not only because it was lighter, but because the DMX "air bubbles" were covered. These shoes were also my volleyball shoes for a few years. They were one of my favorite sports shoes.
I am not sure what happened to these shoes. Maybe they got thrown away during a move. Reebok should bring these back.

Shoe Envy 1: A Friend with Jordans
As I mentioned before, I didn't have fancy shoes as a kid. I only had whatever cheap shoes my mom got for me. I wasn't the only one either. Several of my friends had cheap shoes. So when a Hmong friend of ours walked onto the playground with a fresh pair of Air Jordans, we were excited. The shoes were $100! We were all jelly.
I told myself I would get some Jordans when I was older, but I never did. I find myself liking other shoes. I did almost buy some black on black Jordans, but I got those Under Armors instead.
I believe he had the AJ4 in blue and white. I am not sure if he had the originals or the re-release.

13. Nike Considered CVT
As I was traveling Thailand, I really got tired of taking off my shoes and putting them back on at temples. When was I at MBK, I found these nifty Nike shoes. They were like regular shoes, but with a flip down heel. It was just what I needed. I get the ease of flip flops, but the comfort of sneakers.
I unfortunately left these shoes outside, and I left on an extended trip. When I got back, the shoes were dirty and moldy. I could have tried to cleaned them, but I just threw them away.

Awe...poor shoe. Sounded like a useful shoe too.
-
They were useful. Amazon has them now, but they come in some weird brown/red. The shoes have some weird design on the front. They don't look so bad in black, but they look weird in brown/red. Maybe they don't look so bad in person. Maybe I'll still get them anyways because of function.

14. Reebok Real Flex
I needed some running/walking shoes. I don't actually run for exercise (I prefer biking and sports for exercise), but I wanted something comfortable for walking around the city. I figured some running shoes would be a good option. I found the Reebok Real Flex at an outlet store for cheap. I never had a "barefoot" shoe before. I decided to give them a try.
At first, they were fine. However, my feet started to hurt after a while. I don't think I am the "barefoot" type of guy, which is why I am skeptical that the Nike Free shoes are for me. I still like the shoe. I wear them for short walks and for biking. They are really light. As for looks, I never liked the neon green laces.

15. Reebok DMX 10 Running
I really like Reebok's DMX basketball shoes, so I figured I would give their DMX running shoes a try too. Some people think DMX is heavy. Some people think DMX is a ripoff of Nike Air. In any case, I think they are comfortable.
The weekend that I got these shoes, I wore them to go paintball. That was a bad idea. They worked well, but they got really dirty. Oh well.
I threw these shoes out because the sole of one of the shoes ripped off while I was biking. The only thing I didn't like about the shoe was the color scheme, but the store I got them from didn't have a big selection. Reebok should really bring back their DMX line.

16. Nike Torch 3
I got these shoes while in Macau. I wore Crocs on the way there because I thought flying with Crocs would be comfortable. Unfortunately, walking around in Crocs wasn't. I was skeptical about getting Nikes because Nikes are always tight on me. But, I got them anyways. There were tight, but they eventually loosened up.
These shoes were my first purchase in Macau. To my surprise, I was allowed to use my HK cash. I apparently didn't need to convert any money. I should have known that. I just didn't read.
The shoes are currently at my place. I use them as rain shoes for biking. However, I haven't been using them since they are pretty worn out now. Other shoes have been demoted to this task, so I might throw these out. Funny thing, I now own two "Torch" shoes from two different companies.

Bulbasar, what shoe size do you wear?
-
It really depends on the shoe. I wear anything from 9 to 10.5. For example, I tend to wear larger Nike shoes, but smaller Reebok shoes. I feel a bit lucky because shoe sizes 9-11 often seem to be in-stock. I remember as a kid growing up, it was hard to find a shoe that I liked that was in my size.
Why do you ask?

Just want to know how tall you are. ;) Thanks for personal info. That is a perfect size.

I didn't know my height was a mystery to be solved. You're a natural Sherlock. What else do my shoes tell about me?

17. Adidas Voloossage Sandals
These were so hipster back in the day. I even owned the cheap WalMart knockoff version too. When I used to play a lot of indoor basketball, I would wear these to the gym, then change into my basketball shoes. The idea was to preserve the basketball shoes as long as possible. The Voloossage had little bumps that massage the feet. Sometimes I liked them, and sometimes I didn't.
After a while, I grew tired of them. They became tedious to clean. Dirt and stuff would get between the massage bumps. I eventually threw them out because of that.

I am apparently not quite the detective you are. Plus, I have no idea about women shoe sizes. You could have said size 50, and I would have no idea. :)
Come to think of it, why even bother having different sizes for men and women? Shouldn't we just do it by some universal measurement?

18. Adidas Energy Boost
After my Reebox DMX shoes tore apart, I was in need of a new running shoe. I was looking for another DMX shoe, but they were hard to find. So, I started to do some research, and foam was trendy. In particular, Boost, Lunarlon, and Micro G. I decided to try them out. To my surprise, I really liked Boost. They were a bit tight, but Adidas often stretch on me. Plus, I wanted to give the form fit a try. Unfortunately, they stayed a bit tight, but they are still comfortable. I walked around Osaka in them. Looking back, I probably should have gotten a size bigger.
Some criticism of the shoe: The Boost is exposed, and it gets dirty really easily. The plastic lacing system isn't that great. However, the newer version of the shoes doesn't use plastic, so those might be more comfortable.
The shoe is still on my shoe rack. It is part of my bike shoe rotation.

So there is a lot of open holes in that Adidas shoe?
To me Adidas will always be modeled after soccer shoes or so so. Tightly snug fit. At times it can be good for arch support, in a way.
-
The mesh is "breathable." I wouldn't really call it "holes." The newer version is actually better. Adidas also has other version of their Boost shoes that have vents on the sides and bottom. Shoe tech has really become quite fancy.
I've been wanting to put up my Adidas cleats, but I can't seem to remember which model I had.

19. Nike Black on Silver
"Black on Silver" is not really the name of the shoe, and the picture below is not really the shoe I have. But, I can't find a picture of my shoe, and this picture is the closest thing to it. The shoe below is part of their "Foam" series shoes, but my shoe was Air. My shoe also didn't have the "waves." Mine were smooth.
I bought these shoes when I was playing basketball daily. Like any baller, you need some flashy shoes to show off. I found these shoes for sale for $40, so I got them. They weren't the best, but they were good enough...and they were shiny.
I don't wear flashy shoes to ball anymore. These shoes are currently at my parents' home. I actually brushed them off and wore them to the park not too long ago. I rarely wore these shoes outside of the gym, but they got a lot of miles.

20. Adidas Manado
I played a lot of Ultimate in high school, but I always played in cross trainers. CT's are not the best for grass, but I had little choice at the time. In college, I would continue to play Ultimate on the practice squad, intramural, and pickup. I finally decided to pick up a pair of real cleats.
I am not really sure if the pair I got are these Adidas Manado, but they look really similar. I remember the cleats were a bit unique because the spikes were shaped like blades. I got them for $35. They weren't the most comfortable, but they did the job. I wore these throughout college, and they would be the only cleats I would ever buy. After college, I only played casual recreation games, so I didn't need cleats anymore.
These days, the technology that goes into cleats is quite cool. As for my dinky shoes, I think they are at my parents' home, but I haven't seen them in years. Maybe my mom threw them away.

Shoe Envy 2: Adidas Crazy 1 aka Kobe's Playoff Shoe
People seem to think that Kobe is a die-hard Nike guy, but there was a time when he was an Adidas guy. One of his most popular shoes were the Crazy 1. Kobe sported the yellow to match his Lakers' gold. He wore these in the playoffs. The same week, a gym pal of mine rolls up with some silver Crazy 1's. These shoes prompted me to get those flashy Nike shoes I listed earlier. Why didn't I get some Crazy 1's for myself? Well, I couldn't afford that kind of cake then.

You're addicted to tennis/althetic shoes. Trust me I have a lot too but I have to buy them from ebay or online stores as I need them in size 5. Most store carried size 6 for women. I want a under armour brand this time but they are mostly from UK if listed on eBay.

All these shoes are over the course of years. I don't actually have them all of them at once. But you are right that I have a lot of sports shoes. My sports shoes wear out faster because I wear them more often and they get abused more. I figure good shoes would preserve my health better.
Which UA shoes are you looking at? If you get some, give a review. I am curious about UA shoes. Also, is size 5 an unusual size? I don't know much about women sizes.

UA does nice job at marketing and advertising. They also look nice, but they I don't know how currently they perform. I only remember they were the cheapest performance clothing on the market, sold at the highest prices. It would be very interesting to hear from actual review, even if it's just a shoe.

I usually tried to get walking shoes but they're ugly so I get the running version. I don't see much UA style that I like yet. I just want one from that brand. Women size 5 is usually not carried in the store but a size 6 is the starting size most will have it. It has to be size 5 and narrow to fit and feel right on my feet. My 2 best shoes are Brooks running shoes very light and mesh is good. I never wear them enough like my flip flop too.

Their active wear are expensive. I always wanted a sweater but the girl/kid size are too girly with sparkle designed. Women xs are too big for me. I just get my active wear from Marshalls as long as it fit. I just stay home so I wear active wear/clothing most of the time.
I don't know how their shoes performed either. Beside they look pretty plain and unlike Nike where you got all kind of looks to choose from except I never do air max version.
-
I like UA's stuff. I have quite a bit. They have their cheap stuff (like all companies do), but they have their good stuff too. I really like the MagZip. Their jackets are well designed. I like their sweats because they dry fast and they don't roll up. Micro G is good (wears out fast though). And of course, their compression gear is great.

Shoe Envy 3: Air Force 1
Who doesn't want a pair of Air Force 1's? I would get a pair, but I never find myself in need of buying a pair. I want them in the black and white. Or maybe the white on white. Them 3/4 lows are all tight. The only problem is that they're only good for one night because once you scuff them you f***ed up your whole night. Give me 2 pairs so I can go stomping in my Air Force 1's.

Shoe Envy 4: Converse All-Star Chuck Taylor
I had some cheap Converse shoes for most of my high school life. They weren't the cool ones, but some cheap ones. Now, I kinda want some Converse as a reminder to old days. I want the black leather Chuck Taylor's, but I want the black/white logo not the red/white/blue. I don't need them, but I would get them if I ever see them.

21. The Generic Converse Shoe
If you've been reading, I have made several references to a shoe that I worn throughout most of high school. That shoe was a Converse shoe. I actually don't remember the model, but they looked similar to the shoe below. I wore these shoes for everything; school, volleyball, ultimate, hiking, suits, etc. I had them for years until I finally threw them out in college. They were very worn out by that time. Of all the shoes, these shoes probably took me the furthest. I now have shoes that specialize for certain activities, so no shoe I have now will get the usage as these did. They weren't the greatest shoes, but they got the greatest usage.

22. Rollerblade Maxxum
People are always coming and going out of my circle. One of those people was into inline skating. My friends and I are always willing to give any activity a try, so we also tried inline skating. Some picked up some brand new skates. For me, I checked out the used sports store. Surprisingly, there were a lot of skates. Apparently, inline skating is one of those activities people like to try but not keep up. I chose the Rollerblade Maxxum.
I no longer skate that much. The skates are sitting in a box. Maybe I should go for a skate this weekend.

23. George dress shoes
I was at home visiting the parents, and I had to go to some formal event. I have some old suits at home, so that wasn't a problem. However, I didn't have any shoes. I didn't want to fork up a lot of cake for dress shoes for just one event, so I went to check out Walmart.
I found some lace-less dress shoes by George. I am not sure if these are the exact same ones, but they look similar. The shoes look nice enough, but they are not at all comfortable. I think they are still at home.

24. Asics wrestling shoes
These weren't really my shoes, but I inherited them for a short while. My brother wrestled in high school. I borrowed them for a few weeks for PE class when the class was wrestling.
These probably aren't the shoes I wore, but they look similar; white on black. The shoes were old when I had them, so I doubt they are still around.

Shoe Envy 5: Reebok the Question
When I needed to replace my Iverson 1's, I was looking at the Iverson 2's or the Questions. I eventually opted for the Iverson 2's, but I always wanted the Questions. The Questions had a funky honeycomb cushion design. They were quite comfy when I tried them. The shoe had a retro release not too long ago. I shoulda picked them up.

Shoe Envy 6: Peak Tony Parker
I've never owned a pair of Peaks, so I kinda want to give them a try. However, spending $100+ on a shoe just to experiment seems wasteful. There are other shoes that I want and that I know I would like, so getting those shoes would be the wiser choice.
The Peak TP's look cool, and the reviews are mostly good. It even comes in my color scheme. Anyone out there ever tried Peaks?

25. Nike Air Force 1
Okay, these were part of my Shoe Envy series, but I just recently got them. I wanted some sports shoes that I could wear to work. My basketball shoes are a bit beat up and sweaty, so I don't want to wear them. My running shoes are a bit too flashy, so I don't want to wear them. I figured I would look at the Converse and the Nike and the Adidas. I settled on the Nike since I saw it first.
I really wanted the high tops with the black laces and the strap, but I couldn't find them. I had a choice between the white soles with black bottoms and black laces, or black soles and bottoms with white laces. I thought the first option looked better, but the second option was probably more practical. Plus, I could always switch the laces (or go without the laces).
My shoe, and its theme song.

I always wanted a pair of Mizuno's. I heard they were great running shoes.
I only wear sneakers when I'm running. In which case, I prefer the Mizuno Wave Inspire line for my pronation. Now, the question is, how do you lace your shoes?

Shoe Envy 7: Nike Hyperdunk 2015
I generally favor mid-tops, but lately I have been wanting some highs for support. My UA's are sorta high, and they feel good. Maybe I am a high-top wearer now. I am eyeing the Hyperdunks 2015, but I can't seem to ever find the black ones in my size.

Shoe Envy 8: Converse All-Star 2
Okay, I had the original Chuck Taylors on the Shoe Envy list, but I think I might prefer the All-Star 2. I will miss the light fabric of the 1's, but I think the 2's might be more comfortable with the Nike foam.

I've seen a lot of people with those shoes. Surprisingly, I noticed a lot of nurses and secretaries wearing them. They must be good for long hours standing.
My new pair of shoes.
Nike Roshe
I don't recommend using it for running. I mean, you can run in it. But it's not a running shoe. It's my casual walking shoe. It's very lightweight. very comfortable. And so brightly colored.

I love them for walking and standing around. Might want to get them snug though, unless you don't mind them being lose. Mine are a bit loose, but I don't mind since I'm not running. It has a good support for the heel and arch, less support for the front of your foot.
The very thin layers makes it light and breathable. I just hope they hold up an don't rip easily like Vans do.
I was in Oakland over the weekend at the zoo. That shoes seem to be the most worned shoes by old folks and young couple just in different color.
I purchased a new pair of Nike from ebay and it's perfect fit because it's narrow. I have to get rid of all my old shoes before I start buying new one. New shoes are lighter and has mesh to make it more breathable.
-
Shoe Envy 8: Nike Hyperdunk 2014
Okay, I am scratching off the Hyperdunk 2015 from the list. After trying them on, I dislike them. They ride high, which is probably good for support, but they are just cumbersome. I also tried on the 2014 model, and those felt much better. Nike tends to run narrow and tight on me, but these were fairly true to size. Unfortunately, they didn't have them in black, and I don't want to wear a rainbow shoe. I need some new basketball shoes, so maybe I'll keep an eye out for them this weekend. That being said, I am also interested in UA's "clutch fit" stuff.

I was out to buy the 2014 Hyperdunk this week, but I can't find the colorway I want, which is just black. There are some other shoes, but I don't feel like dropping cash on a shoe that I may or may not like. For example, I want to give the Crazylight a try, but I have doubts on a low-top basketball shoe. I currently want a mid-top. I am determined to get some new kicks for basketball since the UA's are worn. Ultimately, I have to make a choice between trying something different, or getting the Hyperdunk in a colorway I hate.

26. Jordan AJ 29
If you've been following the thread, you'd know that one of my earliest introductions to shoe trends was from a friend wearing Jordans, and I promised myself that I would get Jordans when I was older but I never did. Well, I got some Jordans today, specifically the Jordan AJ 29. All the reviews said this shoe was comfortable and possibly the best basketball shoe ever, but I didn't believe the hype. People say that about almost every shoe. However, they seem right. I haven't given the shoes a workout yet, but initially, they feel great and supportive.
-
I gave the AJ29 a workout. They felt really good. The air in the forefoot gives a nice spring to each step, but not too soft to the point it affects responsiveness . I was skeptical of the support because the material is soft. However, the support felt good. The best part about the shoe is the comfort. Light weight and snug. It's kinda hard to describe, but a "sock fit" might be a good description. It's not as breathable as the Adidas Crazylight, but it's not hot either.
My biggest concern is durability. The material is really soft, so it might not hold up. I am using this shoe indoor and outdoor, so I am skeptical of how long the traction will hold up. I wish I could reserve these for just indoor, but that's not going to happen.

A Rant on Shoe Reviews
Like a lot of people, I research products that I am interested in purchasing. For example, I researched several shoes before buying the AJ29. I came across some reviewers who were insulting other reviewers because they weren't good ballers. They claimed that those people's reviews can't be fully trusted because they weren't good ballers. Although I understand where they are coming from, I don't fully agree...
1. A person's skill level does not equate to a person's ability to discern. Ability helps, but it's not a requirement. For example, not all great coaches were great players. Not all great players can be great coaches. In the case of shoe reviews, a person really doesn't need to be an expert baller. Even the guys throwing out the insults weren't NBA players. Using their logic, we shouldn't listen to their review either because they aren't pro ballers. Moreover, the shoe designers themselves probably aren't even good basketball players. Obviously, the ability to understand the performance of a shoe is based more than just a person's ability to ball.
2. Not all products are for everyone. Even "the best" product won't please every person. As much as people love the AJ29, some people won't like the softness of the shoe. I know some guys who like a hard and heavy shoe.
3. The people they were insulting as bad ballers were bad, but they themselves also scrubbed it up in the same game. Maybe they played down to their competition, but this is just a case of the pot and kettle. Missed open layups. Shots that didn't even hit the rim. Miscommunicati on.
4. The people they insulted gave a similar review as they did. They also liked the AJ29. In fact, all of them give similar reviews of all the shoes. If these other people can't be trusted because of their game, then how are they coming to the same conclusion as you? The answer: A person's game doesn't equate to a person's ability to discern.
-
I played a couple of games with the AJ29, and they felt good. They aren't as heavy as other midtops, but they aren't as light as the lows that are on the market. I wish I could have given them a tougher workout with some harder steps, but I am a bit hurt right now. But for what I did do, they felt really nice. The biggest regret about the shoe, it is $20 cheaper this week at the shop.
-
So I got props for my AJ29. Folks were asking where I got them and how much I paid for them. They really liked the look. Personally, I dislike the look. I really wanted the blackout version.

27. Lebron 11
I wanted some new mid-soles for my Timberland boots, but the ones I was interested in were near $100. I figured that for that kind of cake, I might as well get another basketball shoe with a removable mid-sole. That way, I can have a new ball shoe and a new mid-sole. So, I got the Lebron 11 in the Denim colorway. For a $300 retail shoe, it's pretty comfortable (I didn't pay $300). I tried the Lebron 11 in other colorways, but the hard plastic just felt too tight on the sides. The Denim looks kinda ugly, but I was more concerned about the comfort.
I haven't taken the shoe for a game yet (the materials don't look like they are for game usage). For the most part I like the shoe. My biggest gripe....the mid-soles are too thick to fit my boots.

Shoe Envy 9: Nike Kobe 9 EM
I like the removable mid-sole, and the blackout version is nice. Plus, I would like to try a low-top shoe for a change.

The shoe designs of today sucks. I prefer the old retro Nike's...... just that classic look, classic lines, nothing too stupid with dumb slashes everywhere that tries too hard to be fancy in the designs.
-
Let's be fair, not all retro shoes were good. Some were just outright fugly. That being said, I do miss some of the older shoes. I listed a few of them on here already. These days, I just prefer black. I can't go around sporting shiny shoes if I am not going to light up the court.

Shoe Envy 10: Adidas DRose 6
I'm a big fan of Boost, and the full-length Boost looks like it would be comfortable. I think I would like to play in the woven top instead of the synthetic top, but lots of people said they prefer the synthetic. If so, I wouldn't mind; I prefer black anyways. I am not too sure about the fit though. I am not sure about the strap system, the tongue, or the height of the shoe. Maybe it all works well. I'll need to try it first. I have high hopes for this shoe. That being said, I might only get this shoe if it blows me out of the water. I am quite happy with the AJ29 right now.

I saw a guy on the court today with the white on black Jordan 29. I was a bit jelly because those were the ones I wanted. I guess I coulda gotten them if I wanted to fork up $250, but I can't justify dropping that kind of cake on shoes that I am going to run to the ground. Although the shoes are comfortable, they are soft and may not last long. Besides, if I can find a good price on the 28, I rather do that now.

28. Converse All Star II
Ok, I couldn't help myself and got me a pair today. Cross this one off the envy list...
I was browsing the shops, and people were leaving the Converse store all disappointed. Apparently the store didn't have certain sizes in stock. I figured I'd ask for fun. They didn't have it in my size either, but the store person said they have been running big on people, so she pulled out a half size smaller which they did have in stock. She was right. The shoe fits almost perfectly. The Lunarlon feels nice, but they coulda used more of it. The suede is harder than the usual cloth on the Chuck Taylor's, but I like it. I am used to much harder shoes anyways. The rubber on the toes is a bit snug, but it's not awful. I only wished the white outer soles had a black stripe. All in all, it's a good shoe.
If you've been reading this long thread, you might have noticed that things have almost come full circle. One of the shoes I wore for a long time were some cheap Converse cross trainers throughout high school. Fast forward through time, and here I am wearing Converse again. Life is funny like that...

29. Nike Kobe 9 EM
Ok, so I finally gave in and got these from the outlet. Stratch them off the envy list...
They were still kinda pricey, but I wanted the removable mid-soles. Plus, I wanted to give a low basketball shoe a try. I typically prefer a mid, but I don't think I play like that anymore. A low shoe might give me more mobility. Hopefully it still gives me support and lateral movement. We'll see.
The shoe sports full length Lunarlon and EM, "engineered mesh."
I got it in the black on gray colorway. I can't seem to find a picture of it online, but they look like these. I could have gotten them in red, but I figure the gray would look better if I ever chose to wear them as casual shoes.

Your shoes are too expensive and do you really get around to wearing them out or just for collection? I have a friend who just collect them.
My last pair of shoes is a Nike Air Thea which is size 5 but more fitted for those with narrow feet. I have a black/neon one and then a black/white one but from Ebay. When you have small feet these shoes on ebay don't get bid or buy it now and it was listed cheap. I was going to get a pink and gray one from a ebay seller from my hometown and drop it off at my parent but decide color shoes is hard to wear everyday with active clothes.
-
I actually do wear my shoes. I've been buying quite a few sports shoes recently because I injured my foot a while back. As I am healing and rehabbing, I buy a shoe for each purpose. For example, this thread lists a running shoe first because I needed shoes to walk and run for rehab. Before I got hurt, my basketball shoes were good enough for a workout and my Timberlands were good enough for casual. Unfortunately, I went through a stretch where it was difficult to wear either one. Even now as I am getting better, I am testing out different shoes. I am not as fit as I used to be, so I am testing out lighter shoes.
Some of the shoes I list here are really old and worn out. Some of the shoes listed here I do not even have anymore.
Most of the shoes I buy are on sale, but I guess I have spent more than others on shoes.
Put up a picture of your shoe. Better yet, post up all your shoes here! I like the design of the Thea. It's a less bulky version of the AF1.

30. Converse All Star II
Deja Vu all over again. Yes, I got them again, but this time in the white. I got a formal event coming up, and I didn't want to wear my dress shoes. I was going to wear my black Converse AS II, but I kinda dirtied them up. So, I just went ahead and got the shoe again in white. I was debating on these, or the Superstars, or some kind of Force shoes. I may still get those other ones if the price is right. Like the other pair, I just wish the new AS had a black stripe.

I gave the Kobe 9 its first workout. I kinda regret not going a half-size up, but then again, I might regret not having a snug fit. I wore thick socks, so they were snug. I'll try thin socks next to see how they feel. I am not really sure what to make of the fit.
I've never played in a low top bball shoe before, but I have to admit, it is quite nice to have the mobility. I felt pretty fast. The cushioning is good. I didn't play a hard game, so I am still skeptical of how it handles in a game where I have to bang bodies.
More on the shoe as I ball with the shoe. It's in the rotation of the AJ29, UA Torch, and my Hyperdunk2014. Oh wait, I didn't mention I got me some Hyperdunks on here yet. Oh well, spoilers...

Shoe Envy 11: Under Armour Curry 2
I tried them on, and I thought they felt great. I know people say that Micro G feels better, but I really didn't mind Charge. Plus, I really like how the shoe fits. My only wish is that the upper had Speedform all throughout. UA could have made it all Speedform, but they held back for some reason. I like the shoe, but I just don't know if I like it for that price point. Plus, I am not sure if the shoe would even make the rotation if I got it. Regardless, it feels like a good shoe.

I prefer shoe shopping at outlets instead of regular shops. I like having the boxes out and trying them on myself. I always feel bad asking the person to try 3 different sizes. I usually try at least 2, so the person has to go back again. Then, they stand around while I put on the shoe and walk around a bit. And then, after all of that, if I don't like the shoe, I don't even buy it. I feel like I wasted their time. They might be on commission, so I want to help them out. But, I just don't like the shoe. Sorry.

31. Nike Hyperdunk 2014
Alrighty, scratch another one off the envy list. I got these to replace my UA Torch. I like the design that UA uses, the low cut back. It feels more mobile. I was going to get another UA, but the Hyperdunk 2014 also had a similar design. When I tried them on, the Lunarlon felt a bit better than the Micro G on the UA (not that Micro G is bad).
I wish the shoe used a woven upper, but the materials are still good. I like the tongue design and it is well-ventilated. Although the shoe looks heavy, it is actually relatively light.
I wore the shoe this morning for its first game, and it performed really well. I am a bit injured right now, but I didn't think much of it with these shoes on. It could be a coincidence, but I still like them.
I got them in the black and neon colorway.

32. New Balance 574
I've always checked these out since they were classics, but I never had a reason to get them. Well, I did. I was out the other day, but I didn't expect to do much walking. As it turned it out, I had to do some extended walking. It usually wouldn't be a problem, but my recent injury makes walking long distances a challenge. I needed some shoes right then and there, and a New Balance store as there. They had their high tech shoes there, but I opted for their classic 574. I can wear the 574 more casually, and I have my eyes set on a different running shoe anyways.
I got them in the navy with the fresh foam.

Sorry.
Almost every outlet don't matter which direction east, west, south or north is like 1 1/2 hrs to get there from where I'm living. I hit up Gilroy Outlet the most but haven't shop for a while because I don't feel the need to keep spending $$ for clothes and shoes if I'm not working so rather used it toward foods to filled up my stomach. Maybe next week when I'm visiting my parent for 2-3 days I can hit the outlet about 5-10 min away. My 8 yo son want a Stephan Curry shoes that is part of Under Armour brand but I haven't check it out. He like basketball and football.
Under Armour shoe........st ill can't find one and last got one from Marshalls but it was girl and took it back. I think I have enough of buying tennis/althetic shoes and feel like I'm buying running version vs. walking. Walking shoes just look ugly. Right now I want a few more boots from Ebay that I have on my watch list. I don't mind used as long as it still look good and price is reasonable. I preferred leather boots.
I think you need to stop buying shoes unless you got $$. I'm addicted but I keep it under $40. I could be addicted to buying clothes but I don't have the height. Petite clothing are like old lady and nothing fit right.

Your son has expensive taste if he wants those Curry shoes (which are on my envy list, too :D). Then again, the Curry 2 is still cheaper than some other signature shoes. Plus, the Curry 2 fit very well. Does your son play basketball? Personally, if I didn't play, I wouldn't buy basketball shoes. But, that's just me. I see lots of people sporting basketball shoes and they don't play. That seems to be a popular "style."
You could always just buy your son cheap shoes so that when he is older, he'll appreciate the expensive ones. That's what happened to me, but I know kids today live in a different era. And, such a lesson might get lost on this new generation.
Similarly, I prefer running shoes over walking shoes. I agree that walking shoes look too weird. I got my eye on the new Adidas Ultra Boost, but those are pricey compared to my level of envy.
I am fortunate enough to be able to afford my shoes. Plus, I am recovering from a foot injury, so all these shoes are actually part of my rehab. It's kinda annoying because I now have all these shoes. But then again, at least I am able to have the choice. Some people (if not many) with my injury don't get to experiment on shoes like I can. At the very least, people who visit my place can check out my shoe collection. I actually got them on display now. ;D
Talk about clothes, I got too many of those. I got a whole thread on that...

When I buy shoes, I buy them to wear. They're a utility for me, and they will all get worn out one day. Recently, I have been buying more shoes than normal. The other day, I saw a long line at the Nike store, and it was just for a shoe!
I've always known there were people out there who wore sneakers for style and not for game. These guys don't play the game, or if they do, they aren't good. The shoe is just a fashion statement. However, people have recently been buying the shoes to resell.
I see it as baseball cards in the 1990's. The cards were valued highly in the 1990's when they came out. However, they're not worth much at all now. Why? It's hype. The cards weren't rare, the hype just made the cards seem rare. The same goes for these shoes. The shoes aren't worth that much.
In the end, if you're a collector, then just wait. The price is going to drop. If you want to ball, then wait because the price is going to drop. Or better yet, save the money and get a comparable shoe (or 2). The AJ29 are great, but if you can't swing that cash, get something else (non-signature). The shoe will still be really good, and it's not like the shoe is going to make you ball better.
So which shoe was the long line at the Nike store for? The Air Jordan 11. WTH? I remember these shoes when they first came out. People are paying these crazy prices for OLD shoes. It's a nice shoe, but there are better shoes to ball in now. It's a good looking shoe, but it's not the only good looking shoe. In fact, there are better looking shoes for cheaper.

My son is a big boy for someone who is 8 yo and on the bigger size. Wearing flat shoes doesn't look good on him so we preferred basketball shoes because of the high top and it will be easier to wear with jean. My son does played basketball and football at school a lot during recess. He start basketball season next month with the city team. He has expensive taste when it come to basketball and football but I keep a budget on what I buy for them because I don't like to spoiled them as parent even if I can afford it. I have to teach my kids money doesn't grow on the tree. I have a limit or budget and a shoe that cost more than $50 is too expensive. The Stephen Curry shoes he saw it was on Amazon about $60. His bday is in Feb so we'll see what he really want when the time get closer.

Shoe Envy 12: Nike Lunar Force 1
Like the AF1, but more comfy.

Did you end up copping some Curries for your son?

33. Adidas Crazylight Boost 2015 Nations
I like the shoe, but I might have gone a half size too big. I dig the black and gold colorway. As far as performance goes, they felt better on court than in the store. I eventually forgot that I had them on when I was playing, and that is always a good thing.

34. Nike Hyperdunk 2014
Again? Yes. It's one of my favorite ballin' shoes, and the price is too good to pass up. I much rather buy a couple of these than buy one new Lebron. Speaking of the Lebron, the Hyperdunk 2014 is better than the Lebron 13, but that's just my opinion.
I got these in a funky red, white, and blue colorway for $40 at the Nike Outlet.

Shoe Envy 13: Air Jordan 1
I just like the classic look of the AJ1. I kinda want a pair to wear with my suit, but I have been rockin' my Converse. If I find the AJ1 in a black colorway for a good price, I might pull the trigger.

Shoe Envy 14: Nike Kobe 11
This shoe drops this weekend. A knitted upper. A drop-in mid/insole. That's already good enough for performance. Then, it just has style points for a see-through bottom. I'll probably be getting a pair eventually. The question is whether or not I want to pay release day price for these. I don't usually buy shoes on release day, but this has sentimental value, and it happens to be cool.

36. Nike Hyperdunk 2014
Yes, once more. It's my favorite shoe to ball in, and it was cheap at the outlet. If you want a good shoe to hoop in and you're on a budget, I really suggest these. I've been messing with lowtops lately, but these mids are great. In some ways, these are better than the Jordan 29.
I was gonna get two of these because they may be gone forever, but this would make my third pair anyways. And besides, maybe I would find another shoe I like better in the future.
This time, I got them in my colorway. Black.

Shoe Envy 15: Adidas Ace 16+ Pure Control
Here is a shoe that I love but would never buy. I don't play field sports anymore, so I have no reason to get these. But, they are incredibly cool. Laceless. Light. And, they come in my colorway. Too bad they didn't have these when I was still playing...

I finally gave the Kobe 11 a workout. I shot around and played a few games. They worked well, but the traction is suspect. I usually don't have a problem with traction, but I could tell the Kobe 11 wasn't up to par. That's a little disappointing for a new shoe. But then again, I didn't slip either. Overall, I like the shoe.
I am beginning to like low tops for ballin'. I haven't had to bang bodies lately, so that might change my mind on lows in the future. I'll just have to see....

37. Adidas Ultra Boost
I've been eyeing these for a while, but they are kinda expensive and the black colorway never seems to be in stores. I could always order my colorway, but I like getting my shoes in person. In any case, the newer model is now out, and I am not too fond of it. There were a couple of the Ultra Boost in stock, but only one in the blue colorway, and it was in my size. I took it as a sign and got them.
I said it before, but Boost might be my favorite cushioning. These shoes are comfortable. I took the laces off for a more casual fit (I am not running in them). I am tempted to cut off the cage, but that would seem silly. Without the laces though, they look like the Yeezy. Maybe this is how the Yeezy feel.

38. Nike Lunar Force 1
These shoes were on the cheap, so I copped them. I wanted the navy and off white colorway, but they didn't have my size. I settled with the gray.
The shoes are comfy, and they look good casually. They feel better than the AF1, and they are lighter. This kinda makes me feel bad for getting the AF1, but the AF1 still looks classy. I guess it's true like they say, ya gotta have at least 2.

39. Timberland Anti-Fatigue Technology Ortholite Insoles
These aren't really shoes, but I got some insoles for my old Timberlands. Let's see how much more life I can squeeze out of my old boots.

I tried a pair, but they didn't fit right. I probably needed to go up a size, but I didn't feel like bothering the sales person to get another size because I wasn't even sure if I was going to buy. I always feel bad asking the sales person to get so many shoes and then not buy anything. Maybe I will hit up the outlets where I can grab the sizes myself. If I can get them on discount, I might cop them.
Took my Roshes out for first time on a windy day.
I've only worn them in the summer.. You can definitely feel the breeze in your toes (I wore dri-fit socks too). The thin material the shoe is made of allows air to breeze through it and it just felt amazing.

My little girl is not here so I've been back to doing my walking each morning after I drop off my kids at school. I told myself I want to run and slowly taking it one step at a time. Hopefully I can get a hang of it. I need to put all my running shoes to work otherwise I need to stop buying shoes just so I can wear them with active clothes. I'm going to get some tennis racket this weekend too. I'm going to make my husband participate.

Roshes style look big and width on me even though it feel light. I stick with my Nike air max Thea because it is more narrow and fitted for my small feet. I don't need insole while some shoes I have them.
I wished the outlet shopping center is closer but then it like 1 1/2 hrs away either in Tracey, Gilroy or Tulare. The very last pair of shoe I got from the Nike outlet was a puma while in San Diego. Otherwise Ebay is my store.

I've bought a couple of shoes since the last time I updated this thread, but I haven't listed them (mainly because I kept getting warnings for emoticons and phantom arguments). Anyways, something in the news got me thinking about my shoes again....
People be hating on the Curry 2 Low Chef. I have the Curry 2 in both the high and low. I think the Chef colorway looks good. It's just white. Plus, the Curry 2 is a good performing shoe. The high performs better than the low, but the low is still good.

I heard something interesting about shoes recently. Someone said, "When I see someone wearing lows, I know they can't bang or they can't jump."
My initial reaction was that the statement was false. Kobe and some other NBA players wear lows. But then, I thought about it more. Kobe wasn't as physical in his later years when he started wearing lows. Harden pretty much does step backs and never plays D. Even for myself, I have only just started wearing lows occasionally. But, I am not as physical as I once was, and I don't jump as high as I used to. The guy might have a point.
