fences is a movie starring and directed by denzel washington. it's a broadway movie about a working-class african-american father raising his family in the 1950s.

don't expect any actions or twist. it's a down to earth movie, with a fierce moving message.

I haven't seen any trailers so I'm not sure what this movie is about, but interesting choice for a movie name.  In the 50s through the 60s, during desegregation, middle class white families erected fences around their homes to keep black people among other minorities out.  Fences, although already in existence, did not become a mainstream attachment to a house until this era.  White people feared that minorities were going to slowly "invade" schools and before they knew it, their homes.  Fences were a metaphor for inequality back then, it was to keep out colored people and let them know they were not welcomed.
