Borrowed Hmong Superstitions from misc sources:
-Never whistle at night or you will attrack ghost and poj nxtoog.
-Never fall at the funeral or your soul will be taken away.
-Never play with shamen tools or you will get a unexpected visitor.
-Never hais "Kwj Txiaj" in the wild or a ghost will answer you.
-If your a "Txiv Qeej", never look at the dead at a funeral or you will see something unexpected.
-Never play hide and seek outside or there will be an unwelcomed player.
-Never play dead tunes on the qeej at your house or you will be next to die.
-Hmongs can't eat peppers at wedding or they will have a bad life.
-Never drink your lover's blood, when he/she dies they will come back for you.
-Never put a Hmong basket over your head or you will become a tiger.
-Hmong Yangs can't eat the heart of a chicken or he/she will go blind.
-Never have kuv phem with your girlfriend in your parent's house your family will have bad luck.
-Do not tell your bad dreams to people while eating because it'll come true.
-Do not enter thru' a window, bad luck will come too that house.
-Do not rock an empty cradle because your child will become sick.
-Do not say to a baby that they are cute because the ghost will come and take the baby away.
-Do not let the childrens play outside during the evening/night time, ghost will come take them.
-Do not cut your hair on the thrid day (Wednesday), it is bad luck for you.
-Don't complain about the smell at the funeral because bad things will happen to you.
-Do not get marry on odd number days, it is a bad omen for your marriage.
-Do not say bad things to your parents, it is a bad sin.
-Do not wash your hands with other people or you will die together.
-Do not look down while you are walking because your life will be shorter.
-Do not put your hands on your head while sleeping because nobody will love you.
-Do not count the stars while lying down or your life will be short.
-If you sneeze 2-3 times in a row, someone is complaining/gossiping about you.
-If you dream of someone that you know passed away, it means that they are healing from their sickness.
-If you dream of taking a sh*t, it means your're gonna lose money.
-If you dream of getting money, it means stress is coming your way.
-Never let outsiders have se.x in your house or your family will become poor.
-Never pick up random stuff outside because it could be a poj ntxoog trap.
-If you dream that somebody is asking you to go with them, say "no" because they're asking you to go die.
-Never have se.x in your car or it could die or break down.
-Hmong Green Vang's can't eat rice with papaya or worms/snakes will come bite you.
-Hmong Green Vang's father's can't go into their married son's room or they will go blind.
-When a Hang people die, their family can't cook inside the house that the dead once lived in or they he/she will come back as a tiger and eat everyone.
-Do not to point at the moon because if you do, your ears will be cut.
-Never put your shoes on the table because if you die, your spirit will try to go wear the shoes before it leaves and if your spirit falls down trying to get out, you wont be able to get to heaven.
-Do not eat raw chicken or you will become a tiger.
-Never poke a hole thru' leaves and look thru' it because you will see ghosts.
-Never call out someone's name out at night or someone else will answer you.
-If you're sad and crying, don't go on a long night walk or spirits will come take you with them, meaning you will die.
-Never cut your hair at night or you will get bad luck
-If you dream of gettin' bit by a dog, the chances of running into a cop is high.
-If you dream about getting sh*t on you then money is coming your way.
-When you eat, don't shake your spoon to even out your food before eating it. If you do, you will lose money/become poor.
if you comb your hair at night. When it is your parent's time to go, you won't see them go. that's what i heard.
-Don't mourn in the open by yourself. I think this is because ghosts will hear and join you.
-Never look back on your wedding day. Doing so brings bad luck for your marriage life.
-u cant tap/pound on ur plate with ur spoon or the spirits will come eat with u
-when u are scooping food onto ur spoon scoop it away from u not towards u
-if your eyes are itchy you can't go to a funeral because if you see the deceased then your eyes would get worse.
-if a snake is coming towards you with a rock/pebble ontop of it's head, your suppose to take off your shirt and cover it's eyes and take the rock for good luck.
-if you should kill a snake, make sure you kuv phem for the head and smash it real good. dont like it die slowly.
