A fat grey squirrel was chasing a more slim one from the roof of our house this morning.
There was a tree nearby.
The skinnier squirrel made a dash for the tips of the branch on that tree and grabbed just the very end of the tip but held onto it. It struggled but crawled quickly towards the tree as the branch bent down and went back up the air.
The big fat squirrel dashed just a second after that one but couldn't reach the branch tip. It fell deep onto the grass below and sat there quite a while, just looking around.
Served it right!

It could've been that the branch was still swinging up and down causing the fat squirrel to miss the branch ???

Both males for sure.
What do we call rodents that are like that?

Good observation.
Could be. But that weight might have something to do with the unreachable gap between the roof and the branch.
