I've been teased and chastised for being late to events because I go by Hmong time. One time in the past I showed up like 30 minutes early to an event and the host gave me a "how rude of you to come so early" look. So, ever since then, it taught me to go to events fashionably late. :P But then someone doesn't like it when I am late and says it's disrespectful to keep other people waiting. Thoughts?

I like to be on time.

Yep, regardless if it's the host/guest, not being able to respect others' time is "rude" when it matters...

If you go there early, you will be the person who greets other people that gets there late.
If you get there late, well lets just say that it feels better getting there late when everybody is already there. IT is like popping up and they all go, "Surprise" Like it is your birthday or something.

Noooo! Definitely not! It feels no good getting there late when everybody is already there! No one will be saying "surprise" at your arse! It's more like they'll give you the stink eye and mutter under their breath, "friggen late again!" before looking up at you and faking a smile. ;D

You ever gone to a vip executive meeting where the ceo is the first to be there? Absolutely not.
Everyone shows up and here comes the main course and everyone claps their hands. Worse is get there early and you will be the host greeter.

What if the ceo and I walk in at the same time and everyone claps and I feel all special? Then the ceo looks at me and I look at the ceo and he gives me the "you're not special, I am!" look? That would suck. No thanks. :P Getting there last = no good. Getting there early = no good also because it means you have to wait for people to show up. I think I'll just be on time. I guess. ::) ;D

Getting there early or on time meaning that you are hungry people looking for a meal.
Getting there late, everyone already eaten so you do not look like hungry hippo at the buffet bar. Plus for myself, I get there a tad late, not a lot late but a tad late because they be drinking 5 shots by the time I show up and I get a head start that way.

Too early and too late aren't good. Just one time or 15 minutes early to 5 minutes late is great.

How about 4.95 minutes early and 5.125 minutes late? :P :D
-
Either would be under 10 minutes. You're just right on the dot there.
Go too early and they say you are too eager to eat; go too late and they say you are do disrespectful.

Dammit! Can't win! :D ;D Guess I'm gonna have to set my timer so I'm always 4.95 minutes early and 5.125 minutes late. :P ;D

The thing about going late is this.
If you want to go late, when you enter the building, all eyes will be on you. That in itself is the grand entry so do what I do. Carry with yourself either a bottle or a really large case of beer.
In this way, all is forgiven.

Yeah, you can always use the excuse, "I had to stop at the liquor store for you people." :D
