Pro-Trump protesters storm US Capitol as lawmakers gather to count electoral votes
Supporters of President Donald Trump have breached the US Capitol as lawmakers count the Electoral College votes certifying President-elect Joe Biden's win.
Shortly after 1 p.m. ET hundreds of pro-Trump protesters pushed through barriers set up along the perimeter of the Capitol, where they tussled with officers in full riot gear, some calling the officers "traitors" for doing their jobs. About 90 minutes later, police said demonstrators got into the building and the doors to the House and Senate were being locked. Shortly after, the House floor was evacuated by police.
Vice President Mike Pence was also evacuated from Capitol, where he was to perform his role in the counting of electoral votes.

Only a few days left before they start kicking people out, trump staff resigning. Kind of half azz if you are asking me. Almost term is up and you take the highway route. Sort of like if you are gonna quit anyway, why work your last week for?

GOP Rep. Cathy McMorris-Rodgers announced Wednesday evening she will reverse her position on challenging President-elect Joe Biden's victory after rioters forced a shutdown of the House and Senate chambers of the US Capitol.
Describing the episode as "disgraceful and un-American," McMorris-Rodgers said in a statement, "I have decided I will vote to uphold the Electoral College results and I encourage Donald Trump to condemn and put an end to this madness."
