Pfizer has excluded Asian and white applicants in its new “Breakthrough Fellowship Program,” a nine-year commitment that aims to boost minority representation in its workforce.

Available to undergraduate students in their junior year, the program will offer an initial 10-week summer internship, two years of full-time employment after undergraduate graduation, a fully paid two-year MBA, MPH or MS Statistics program, another summer internship between the first and second years of the chosen master’s program, and finally, employment with Pfizer after graduation.

Applications will open at the end of Summer 2022 and the beginning of Fall 2022. Aside from obtaining their undergraduate degree in December 2023 or Spring 2024, applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents, have a GPA of at least 3.0, demonstrate exceptional leadership potential and have a committed interest in pursuing an MBA, MPH or MS Statistics program.

Applicants must also meet Pfizer’s goals of “increasing the pipeline for Black/African American, Latino/Hispanic and Native Americans.” This leaves out Asian and white applicants, raising discrimination concerns among observers.

You know the term the rich gets richer?

Asian in general are the minority group in America that have excelled really fast.  Why?  It is because we are known to be the smarter ones.

IF they continued with going with qualifications, we Asian are going to take over the world, figuratively speaking.

A ban on us at one company don't do a dent in the general well being so I say to give the poor a try to become rich or smart too.   O0

Amazon discriminating against Asians, whites in grant program, class action lawsuit says

Amazon is discriminating against Asian and white applicants in a grant program for delivery start-ups, a new class action lawsuit claims.

Dubbed the “Diversity Grant,” the program awards $10,000 stipends to Black, Latinx and Native American entrepreneurs to become delivery service partners, leaving out Asian and white hopefuls to “foot the entire bill for their startup costs,” according to the suit.

Plaintiff Crystal Bolduc filed the suit at a Texas district court on July 20, as per the Washington Free Beacon, which published the suit last week. The suit claims that the program breached the Civil Rights Act of 1866, which forbids racial discrimination in contracting.

Bolduc, a White woman, “seeks to represent a class of all past and future applicants" to the program “who have been subjected to racial discrimination,” according to the suit. She wants the court to shut down the program and make Amazon pay everyone “who has suffered unlawful racial discrimination” because of it.

The suit also cited Amazon’s “Black Business Accelerator,” a separate initiative that has been granting Black-owned businesses “$500 credit to assist with start-up and operational costs” since June 2021. Bolduc called the initiative another example of “unlawful racial discrimination .”

Other major companies have been hit with similar anti-Asian and anti-white claims. In 2018, a former YouTube recruiter accused Google of excluding Asian and white male applicants, and in one hiring round, “purging” all applications by “non-diverse employees.”

Just last week, Pfizer faced backlash after announcing a nine-year fellowship program that comes with internships, a fully funded master’s degree and future employment for “Black/African American, Latino/Hispanic and Native Americans.” With the exclusion of Asian and white applicants, critics have also alleged a violation of the 1866 Civil Rights Act, as well as Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which forbids racial discrimination in employment.

Texas A&M faces class-action suit alleging discrimination against Asian and white men

The Texas A&M University System has been hit with a federal class-action suit accusing it of discriminating against Asian and white men in a new fellowship program focused on diversifying its faculty.

Richard Lowery, a finance professor at the University of Texas at Austin, filed the suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas on Saturday. He is represented by America First Legal, a nonprofit co-founded by Stephen Miller, who served as a policy adviser for former President Donald Trump, and Jonathan Mitchell, a former Texas solicitor general who helped write the state’s six-week abortion ban, as per the Texas Tribune.

In the suit, Lowery challenged Texas A&M’s Accountability, Climate, Equity and Scholarship Faculty Fellows Program (ACES), whose new “Plus” version seeks to hire faculty from “underrepresented minority groups” that exclude Asian Americans. The system is expected to allot $2 million for the program, providing “50% matching base salary and benefits, up to a maximum contribution of $100,000 (salary and fringe) for new mid-career and senior tenure-track hires.”

Lowery, who is white, alleges that ACES Plus violates Title VI and Title IX of the Civil Rights Act, which prohibit sex and racial discrimination in education programs that receive federal funding. He also claims violations of Section 1981 (42 U.S.C. § 1981) and the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause.

Pfizer defends exclusion of Asian and white applicants in fellowship, says it’s ‘non-discriminatory’
(https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/mBdUeLkcrUKIPNwc4vUBdQ--/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTUxMDtjZj13ZWJw/https://media.zenfs.com/en/nextshark_articles_509/2f10d797d8c32a3768094cf12d55784b)

Pfizer has defended its fellowship program accused of discriminating against Asian and white applicants, saying it reverses “the effects of historical discrimination in the workplace.”

The nine-year program, known as the “Breakthrough Fellowship Program,” aims to boost Pfizer’s workforce diversity but is limited to “Black/African American, Latino/Hispanic and Native American” applicants. It begins with a 10-week internship at the undergraduate level and culminates in employment with the company after a fully-funded master’s degree.

Last month, Do No Harm, a new nonprofit composed of medical professionals, filed a suit against Pfizer for violating the Civil Rights Act and other laws in connection with the program. Do No Harm says its mission is to “protect patients and physicians from woke healthcare [and] the racially divisive ideology threatening the quality of care in America.”

In a brief filed on Tuesday, Pfizer opposed the nonprofit’s request for a preliminary injunction, which would bar it from proceeding with the program. Breakthrough is scheduled to accept applications at the end of Summer 2022 and the beginning of Fall 2022.
