That stripper was perfect size for eating but did not have a tape measure so I let it go. My estimate is right at 21-22. As you can see, only brought one home.
-
Nice trouts R!

There's only one body of water in cali that has them white bass.
otherwise, I have no idea where you were fishing at. The dam is loaded with fish. Gotta loved them dams.
There are lakes like hogan where there are 10 striper limit and no size restriction. They want to get rid of them for some reason. The white folks up there in the boonies don't eat striper or something.
Very cool to see pictures of fishes. O0

Gotta a buddy that lives in Valley Spring... 8)
Size limit can vary from place to place. Striper size limit in California is 18 inches if I remember it correctly...
Bass Lake is located right outside of Yosemite in Madera County and it should have bass as it only makes sense ;D:

These dams produced some monsters! The next few weeks will heat up like an oven.
Hogan still have same regulations on striper then. I last went to hogan early 2000s

Only people I know that frequent hogan are hmong people. They are the ones that brings the fish and the news home and by next weekend, hmong new year there
-
Stripers > whitebass .. all day.

Stripers > whitebass .. all day.
The fight yes but in regards to quality vs quantity, perhaps quantity is more fun as white bass in the midwest are unlimited to catch and keep I heard.

I hear the Delta is heating up for striper but haven’t bought my license for CA. I’ll buy it when they open up Salmon.

You sure salmon this year is going to be open? Heard they closed it down but maybe that is for the ocean and commercial fishermen?
I haven't bought mine either but soon I will for the shad run. I don't hear no news about the shad run yet. Check this latest video of this hmong brother on a delta striper. I don't know this spot. If you know, let me know. Worth watching as it is very exciting. Just watch

Those dams have striper, white bass, large and small mouths, carp, buffalo, a variety of giant cats, gar, a variety of sunfish, crappie, and tons of shads. They all congregate at the those dams. Who knows what have moved in since.

That’s why I haven’t bought my license and will likely not, will wait for the year when CDFW open salmon again.

No idea where exactly on the Delta but that was a poor landing lol.

Us folks in NC use mussels for stripers. Blood worms were #1 until we discovered mussels. Live bait are blue gill, shad, gizzard shad, and herring.

NC has strict regulations on striper and if I understand correctly, only a few days to harvest striper because of over fishing. No striper shall be kept between 22-27 and only 1 striper per day during those few days. People may continue to catch striper throughout the spring run but on catch and release only.

Stripers are year round. Some years are 16 or 18 inches and daily creel is 4. Stripers don't really bite during summer.

I know I said I won’t buy a fishing license but overheard the clerk said expired one year from now to this old couple so I bought mine. You buy it now and it will last 365 from purchase. Sturgeon tags still expire at end of year. Last year fishing license wasn’t like that. It’s about time.

Perhaps just the Roanoke River and that surrounding area. NC wildlife makes it hard to locate striper regulations, I haven’t figured it out yet. lol

I knew about the 365 days rule when it was a proposal. That is the core reasons why I am delaying buying my fishing license. I mean I would of bought it in Jan had I still had my boat Different years, life changes, I fish solo now and I get lazy so no hype in getting a license when a license can just get stalled if you do not put the time into it. My fishing cousin got married so it is hard to get him to go fishing and leave his new wife at home. My other hmong buddy has a home project so he's not ready for the waters. I'm buying mine in May when the cotton flowers be flowing on the rivers that you see annually. It is a sign that them American Shads are running through freeport and upward. Now that type of fishing, casting all day can be done solo. If it is just soaking bait for striper or sturgeon, I need a buddy to do a grill on the river episode because waiting for a nibble is a skunking day waiting to happen. :2funny:

Roanoke River is for ocean stripers and that's seasonal from what I remember. 36+ inch stripers, I tried once, and got skunked. Too long of a drive for me. NC folks drive to TN for stripers too. I only keep 20+ inch stripers. When I used to fish, I average about 60 a season. And yes I do eat my stripers and give away some too. I eat what I catch and I mainly fish for stripers.

Talk about Tail of the Dragon, when I was driving through, I saw quite a few motorcycles and little souped up vehicles plus one corvette just revving through those curves. Also like 6 cameramen hanging out at some of those curves just snapping pictures away as vehicles approach. I was enjoying the drive so I pulled off to the side to let some little racers go by. Funny thing is, at the end of the drive saw some same vehicles ready to do it again while I continue on to Foothills Parkway.
I heard it could be super slow during peak seasons.
