..hunter back in my hunting days because he was going to take the venison that a White hunter left it to rot and added to his kill. Many White hunters would just cut the deer's head off and leave the body. I told that Hmong hunter that it's not allowed according to CDFW regulations and he could be in deep doo doo if caught.

It was a provocative headline in a national newspaper: “Bambinos eat Bambi”. The news this week that a chain of nurseries across Dorset and Hampshire were putting deer on the lunch menu doubtless had a clutch of mums spluttering all over their post-drop-off frothy oat lattés.

The deer's head with the minimal number of fork and points was required in California so can't just tag the body and take it.

The deer's head with the minimal number of fork and points was required in California so can't just tag the body and take it.
If you call the DNR first and let them know about it, they'll be ok with it.
If you hit a deer - you can claimed the carcass too if you notified the DNR about it.
