This is something I've noticed to be a big difference between the midwest (and some other places too), and the west. I've lived in a couple western and southwestern states, and just about everyone has a fence.
When I go to the midwest, I don't see hardly any fences at all. I've always wondered, how do people keep their dogs?? And why do you think there is this difference - are fences frowned upon as an antisocial thing in the midwest? I'm not sure why every single house out here has one, other than perhaps a lack of natural barriers like trees and lush bushes etc. perhaps, just seems to be the norm. Would love to hear other's thoughts on this

FACT IS, some homes in "wi" have fence, some don't ...just like California...

What's up with the lack of fences around here?
What's up yall. I been all over the country and I've noticed in a lot of parts of the country that fences dividing each house in a subdivision is quite common. I've noticed this out in California, Vegas, Texas, PNW, as well as NYC. The only places I haven't noticed fences between houses is Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. Is it a Midwest thing? Some older homes might have fences out here but pretty much everything that is new construction doesn't. Anybody know why fences aren't as common out here

But joking aside, everyone has fences in Ca. We even have fences to keep the dead in the grave yards. So if there’s ever a zombie apocalypse, the zombies in the Midwest will be running everywhere while the ones in Cali will be confined inside the grave yard.
Seriously though, I think in the Midwest, the better neighborhoods don’t have fencing because everyone respects others’ property while the ghetto has them and needs them.
