...cheating thoughts... ;D:
"That's like cheating" - Paul Pierce shares a wild story of seeing his girlfriend without makeup for the first time
Paul Pierce has never been one to filter his thoughts - whether it was during his playing days with the Boston Celtics or now as a media personality. His reputation has always revolved around being blunt and, at times, deliberately provocative.
That same tendency was on display recently when he recalled an experience with his former partner that raised eyebrows.
Recalling a moment from his past relationship where, upon seeing his partner without makeup for the first time, his feelings shifted dramatically. He described being so taken aback that it made him question his own judgment, despite having dated her for a considerable period.
The Boston Celtics legend felt a major disconnect between perception and reality - something he felt he was incredibly misled about.
"Dated a girl, and we were dating for a while too and it was like, 'D—!' One day she woke up and I saw all the makeup off," Pierce said. "It was my first time and I was like, 'Ugh! D—, all this time I thought you really looked like that 'cause ya'll can make it blend in good.'"
Pierce felt he was "betrayed" and "cheated"
Expanding on that experience, Pierce went a step further and suggested that men shouldn't fully trust appearances until they've seen their partners without makeup. To make matters worse, it was a sweeping generalization, delivered in the same unfiltered tone that usually provokes people.
And while "The Truth" may have dished it out as advice, he emphasized that relationships should always have surface-level impressions - where guys should always be aware of how their partner looks without makeup. Otherwise, they too would feel "betrayed and "cheated as he did.
"I was like, 'Whoa! Ni—a. It was like you betrayed me. It's like lying to somebody, though. That's like cheating. If you always wear your makeup with your dude, that's like cheating," Pierce added. "If he never saw you without makeup, so dude that saw her on the wedding day or whatever, that's exactly like cheating on."

Pierce's opinions have always been bold
What makes this even more striking is that it isn't an isolated instance. The 2008 NBA champion has also shared a series of controversial takes on relationships, including the claim that men should test loyalty in ways that many would consider counterproduct ive or even harmful.
Interestingly, this is coming from someone whose own marriage ended in 2023, so these remarks seem to reflect a personal lens rather than a universally applicable perspective, to say the least.
"If you really want to know if a girl love you, you need to go out and cheat on her," Pierce said on "The Truth After Dark" podcast. "Let's see. If you really want to know if a girl loves you for real, go cheat on her and see how she reacts. Now we gonna see what's real."
