Jeff Bezos recently went viral for citing a nurse in Queens, New York who earns $75,000 a year and pays over $12,000 in taxes. During an interview on CNBC's Squawk Box, Bezos used this example to argue that the bottom half of U.S. income earners should pay zero federal income tax.Bezos argued that asking a middle-class earner to pay over $1,000 a month in taxes makes no sense, and that the government should apologize to them instead. He stated that because the bottom half of earners only account for about 3% of total tax revenue, the government could easily find those funds elsewhere
