Tina Fey has an epic response to people who didn’t believe that her marriage to Jeff Richmond would stand the test of time. Over two decades after saying "I do," the Mean Girls star jokingly clapped back at the naysayers while opening up about her and Richmond’s wedding anniversary plans in a new interview.
During the Monday, June 1, episode of The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon congratulated Fey on the relationship milestone, which falls on June 3. The 30 Rock alum employed her signature wit as she addressed the studio audience. “So you all were wrong. Everybody who said we weren't going to make it,” she quipped.
Fey, who previously agreed with her husband's assessment of their marriage as “borderline boring—in a good way," detailed how she and the composer celebrated 25 years as husband and wife with a “quiet” extended weekend in Los Angeles complete with plenty of pool time.
“Did nothing, sat by the pool,” she shared about their plans, joking that the parents-of-two also took full advantage of their child-free weekend.
“Walk around a mall with no kids, not go into Hollister, just do what you want,” she said about the dream weekend, adding, “You want to look at these wide shoes ... for an hour? Do it, do it. This is love.” Fey, who first crossed paths with Richmond when they were both working at Chicago improv hotspot Second City in the ‘90s, shares daughters Alice, 20, and Penelope, 14, with the former Saturday Night Live musical director.
The comedian recently shared her secret to a long marriage, telling Entertainment Tonight at The Four Seasons season 2 premiere on May 20 that she and her husband swear by “separate bathrooms.” She elaborated, “If you can afford it, second bathrooms, and if you can’t afford it, one person has to go to McDonalds to use the bathroom."
