Australia 'deeply frustrated' over Laos methanol poisoning charges
Australia expressed deep frustration and bitter disappointment regarding the leniency of charges filed against a distillery owner in Laos, following a mass methanol poisoning that killed six tourists, including Melbourne teenagers Bianca Jones and Holly Bowles.
The families and the Australian government were outraged to learn that the distillery owner is facing charges for operating an illegal business and selling harmful consumer goods—offenses that carry a maximum penalty of only three months to four years in prison or minor fines
