Title: I tried hook size 20 for sunnies and it has worked wonders.

The fish swallowed the hook and wax worm whole, even including the tiny bead and ring
that I've added to the hook base.

That is really stepping into the realm of ultralight fishing.

Wait till you buy those tiny leaf worms for bait.  They even smaller than waxies and they work great.  I think they call them spikes but I can't remember.

Try scuds from the pet shop too.

I don't like ultralight power. Hard to penetrate. I'll just adjust the drag.

I've been using meal worms, too. They haven't been as great as waxies.
