Next time I visit California, I'm definitely going striper fishing and largemouth bass fishing in the deep clear lakes!

Around spring to summer that is when stripers are biting.

It's a whole new set of techniques, but still really fun. I noticed the fish out here are not as active as back in the midwest (with the exception of ponds). I still want to head up to norcal to get some striper, but there's too much to put together. I'm still a bait and wait guy for stripers haha.
The s/o hate bait striper fishing.  :2funny:

Nice stripers from the sure.

Tajo, have you tried the IMA Big Stik.  It's almost like the pencil popper.  I'm not sure if the pencil popper has a walk the dog action like the Big Stik. I bought a Big Stik awhile back but have yet to use it.

I think my s/o tried it before.   This is the kind of popper lure my s/o using.   Every lures he orders online or buy at the stores..he removes the three hooks and put a single hook on.

Damn, I always forget to bring a long my fishing pool when I visit my parents. I'm definitely missing out on the bay stripers. Once again, nice catch Tajo  O0

thanks suav.. my s/o caught that one.   :2funny:

How in the heck are you gonna keep the bait out there when the waves are that rough?
I've never ocean fish before.

They use lures not baits.  Its more fun to fish with lures.

Nope socal, been hearing about OB going off like crazy though. It must be packed up there. How do you guys work the poppers in the surf?

There are alot of top water fishing videos on youtube.

This pic was taken couple weeks ago.  This is how surf fishing looks like in the bay.    :2funny:  This is not even pack.  There are more pple at the pier and at the other side of the beach. hahahaha word gets around quick when one person caught a striper.   :2funny:

Tajo, you wouldn't happen to be pinfish would you? Either that or you guys just use the same lures. Wtg, still need to get me on my first surf striper.

No pinfish here.  The s/o has been using the same lures top water lures (popper) and road runner lure.
Good year for surf striper in the bay beaches.

Are you from the bay area too?

Tajo,

My brother and I were there at Los Vaqeros this past weekend.  Our first time there.  We caught two 27", two 33", and one 35".  Of course, we got three free beer mugs.  We had a great time there.  A great place to fish.  Easy to catch fish there, unlike river fishing.

We went back to Los Vaqueros 2 days ago and got nothing.  We got there real late like 3 pm ish.  I saw couple of hmong males with their stripers pix on the wall.  ;D
