Automotive Discussion / Re: True for many of us enthusiasts

I used to think that but now I prefer auto w/paddle shift. Maybe back in the 80s and 90s the manuals were more engaging to drive. I've done several road courses and auto is fun when you can shift.  O0

Speaking of "Porsche", this one seems like a good deal especially when compared to its original MSRP of $52K back in 2003. Not my kind of car but for those that like it, seems like a good deal at 1/5 of it's original price  ???:

I like these Boxsters too. Cheap thrills for a good price. These years have the IMS issues but you can change the IMS as a preventative maintenance. It does involve removing the engine and doing in-depth work. You can however find some for sale thats already been done. I would love one with a turbo kit and the Milesworks widebody kit.  O0

Not a lot of people have the know how to work on a BMW, Porsche, Audi, Lambo, Ferrari, Merc etc etc...  Expensive repairs will lower the value of a car because it becomes less desirable or the demands go down. A v10 BMW is a gold mine if you know how to maintain it. I remember seeing people doing timing belts on Civics and Toyotas back in the day. You never had to do that for a BMW,, they were timing chains and the water pump was right in front of you on a BMW. Thermostat took like 1hr to do and that included setting up the car and jacking it car up, draining and filling. lol

I hated working on my Celica and MR2, but my M3 was a breeze. Only thing was that German cars required different tools and people shy away from that. Germans are pioneers for technology while the JDM market focused on perfecting whats already there for reliability.

I ain't complaining though, cause it makes the market great for enthusiasts like me who can wrench a little. I mean you can keep driving around in a 25k Civic or you can drive around in a Porsche 996/986 for the same price. its only 25k because its a 2025. a civic of the same year would be in the junkyard.  >:D

Crazy anime...  LOL   ;D

Get a LHD if you can. Leave the RHD for cars that the US can't get.

Call me old, but I love the autos with paddle shifters. They aren't like the 90s granny tranny anymore. I enjoy them a lot.  O0

I did a little bit of everything back in the early 90s. In 1992 I had a 87 Starion with bored block, valve job, Baker single cam, HKS exhaust and MSD. Also rode around on a 92 750 Gixxer, full header back exhaust, bored block and jetted with different sprockets front and rear. My 2nd car was a 88 Nissan Pulsar sitting on 13" ARE reversal wheels, lowered and it had 4 bazooka tubes with mids/highs and all the amps to go with it.  The good old days.....

I have sold most of my toys. Maybe it's getting old that has changed me. Maintaining a car isn't as fun as it used to be. I bought a A90 Supra about 3 yrs ago and its sitting in my garage collecting dust. I still have my S2000 from the old Pebhmong days when it was hoppin in these automotive threads, and EVERYTHING on the road seemed to be getting beat by that CRX guy in here.  ;D  Driving a 24 Toyota GH and a 06 RX400h.

Hoping to get into a Porsche or Lotus down the road here sometime. My interest has shifted from racing to road trips. I enjoy traveling in a sports car. I have driven the Supra from MN to AR and back. It was an amazing experience. Much better than my usual Maplewood to Duluth or MN to WI. I hope to map the states soon.  O0

It's been a while! What is everyone driving now? Doesn't have to be a sports/performance car. Let's see them!

Supra's main competitor is the Z. The Supra is so good that it takes the GTR to even out match it. Supra is 60k and GTR now is over 100k. If you drive a GTR and GR Supra they arent even alike at all. The Supra is way more comfy and better for a daily. If you have an older GTR and the GR supra both on BPU they're pretty much head to head.

Must be getting old, but I prefer auto w/paddle shifters. Manuals are great if you want to drift or rally race or you need some fun from a 4 cylinder. Even the fastest manual shifting trannies are automatic-ish. I love that my S2000 is manual but I don't want my Supra to be manual. The 4 cylinder auto feel is just junk. The GTR would be slower if it were manual.

I had a 06 Ridge and it was good to me. I did all the things my relatives did with their Tundras except the payments.  ;D
