I don't like Windows 7 but I do enjoy playing games.  Ubuntu otherwise..

The problem is there's no sound in the game.

no idea, i mean as far as the demo goes everything works fine for me sound included.  there were some threads about having to remove hid in device manager to get it to work but i think for them its just running the game, not the sound problem

do you have a creative soundcard?  if so you might need to update alchemy drivers/addon

if not i have no clue, other then what people said about removing hid stuff from device manager.  some guy said he ha to remove his dialup modem which is weird so no idea.

also is your dx9 updated?

I haven't tested F.E.A.R on win 7 64bit, but you might want to check your windows audio settings. I also have a sound card install so if one doesn't work, the other does for me.

Hmm.. seems like no real solution..

Win 7 has this ability to control sound via individual application.  For example, my co worker accidentally muted sound with Internet Explorer.  MP3's would play via Windows Media Player.  Sound would play when watching movies.  However, it wouldn't play when watching Youtube through Internet Explorer.  The speaker icon was never showed muted either.

The fix was to check the mixer.  Left click on speaker icon (bottom right hand side) and select mixer.  Hopefully it will show Application Fear as muted.

Best of luck.
