Replacing Laptop Batteries
« on: March 28, 2012, 02:22:55 PM »
My Gateway NV78 laptop needs a new battery. I contacted Gateway's customer service and they were not helpful at all.

I simply need a replacement battery AS07B31 10.8v, 48Wh, 4400 mAh; no idea how many cells whether 6 or 8 (original does not say).

Manufacturer sends me a replacement battery for AS07B32 for 14.8v, 4400 mAh with 8 cells. On the back of this battery, it says to only replace AS07B32 and only if the laptop's original battery supports 14.8v. I spoke to two different Gateway customer support guys and they told me different things. One guy said it was okay to use the new 14.8v battery and the other guy argues that I cannot because of the voltage difference. They're confused and now I'm confused.

Need a real geek's help without blowing up anything, please. Thanks. :)

voltage does not matter as much as amps, you have to have the exact amps
