Anti-narcotics police have arrested a man with 800,000 methamphetamin
e pills and 20 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamin
e, or ice, in his possession, Narcotics Suppression Bureau chief Rewat Klinkesorn said at a press conference on Wednesday.
Pol Lt Gen Rewat said the police also seized from him one car and three mobile phones.
He said Jaras Pitiprakan, 33, was arrested at his home in Lampang province on Wednesday, with the drugs. He had been long been surveilled by a police detective who worked with him posing as a drug courier.
Mr Jaras allegedly confessed he had ordered the drugs from a neighbouring country and that he operated one of the drug networks of ethnic Hmong tribesmen in the North.
Pol Lt Gen Rewat said the methamphetamin
e pills were to be sent to Central provinces while the crystal meth was destined for the South.
