WWE legend Road Warrior Animal dead at 60



One half of the iconic tag team known as both the Road Warriors and Legion of Doom, Laurinaitis began his pro wrestling career in the 1980s and would go on to win various championships and earn numerous accolades during his four-decades in the industry. Laurinaitis — and his tag-team partner Road Warrior Hawk (real name Michael Hegstrand) — were two of the most recognizable stars during WWE’s rise to prominence in the 1990s. Their names, painted faces and spike-studded, football-style shoulder pads were inspired by the blockbuster movie franchise “Mad Max” and made them an immediate fan favorite, regardless of the city, country or promotion they were working in. Hegstrand passed away in 2003 at the age of 46.

I grew up watching them.  As a kid, I thought their costume were bad azz.  Never thought anybody would of beaten them.  They were the definition of red neck studs. 

Theme song is important to me.  Even before I knew what electronic music was, this into song by the midnight express, a tag team duo at the time of the road warrior got me hooked on wrestling at a very young age.   How the song slow rolled to the drop but the drop was rarely played cuz an intro is only a few seconds into the song.  I remembered the manager guy who can't wrestle for chit and weak as eff be running around with a tennis racket.  Image was all it was about in them early days of wrestling.  You build drama around that image.

Agree with the Midnight Express's entrance song as it's catchy ..kind of like when some of the new wave songs that came out in the 80s.
