...relates to it. I had a bud that drives a 260Z back in the 80s. One day, he was driving on southbound I-5 doing "55mph" on the slow lane. As he passed Country Club Blvd., he saw a tire rolled by on his left side and he's asked himself mentally, "WTF, did someone loose a tire?" Then his car's left rear section dropped and he goes, "oh shit, it's my car's tire!!!"

Anyways, he was able to pull his car to the shoulder off the Monte Diablo exit ramp and no one died...He learned a good lesson about torquing nuts and bolts correctly and retorquing it regularly as maintenance especially moving parts from that moment on as he saw his life flashed in front of him.. ;D ;D ;D

It's probably just a coincidence but the wheel that broke loose below also came off a Nissan  :o:

Runaway Wheel Kills Motorist

Runaway wheels are incredibly dangerous.
We’ve seen the damage runaway wheels can cause and they’re shockingly devastating. Unfortunately, an innocent motorist traveling on I-70 in Indiana learned this in the worst way possible as a wheel that broke off a pickup truck crashed into a Buick, killing the driver.

I had someone stole one of my lug nuts off my vehicle at holiday inn during a road trip. Had to cut it short and come home.

Sorry to hear. When I was off-roading in Utah a few months ago, someone tried to steal the spare tire off my Taco's tire carrier. It's probably because it's still brand new. It's secured by two lugnuts and one wheel lock. The thief was able to to undo the two lugnuts but not the wheel lock. When we returned from our hike, and started driving, I could hear some type of rattling noise coming from the back so I pulled over to see what it is and yep, the spare tire was loose as it was only held on by the wheel lock.

I know many auto parts stores sell replacement lugnuts and even some tire shops sell it too but we were far from those places so I just added some bungy cord reinforcement to stabilized it until we get to town. I ended up stopping by a Costco's tire center to get two lugnuts. They have a wide variety of lugnuts and sell it individually. Costco charges between $1.50-2.50 each depending on your vehicle's brand and model so it's very reasonable.

Like I've said, I've never had to use the spare so it's still new, probably why the thief wanted it and thought it was an easy target without realizing one of the secure point has a wheel lock on it:

Just look for an auto part store, no need to go home.

A BIL of mine had the same thing happened to him (king's lug nut). I changed his tires and torqued them lug nut to spec. A week later, he called me and said one of tire is making noise. I went to his house and sure enough, that tire had the 3 lug nut loose (I could twist them with my hand), the wheel lock nut was not touched.

It’s not like I didn’t look but it’s night in the middle of nowhere with small children plus a combination of other things and nearest auto part store was 60 miles away in the wrong direction.

Didn’t know Costco sells lug nuts but I like to use the original lug nuts. Had issues installing aftermarket lug nuts and kept having to replace studs and lug nuts after two tire rotations. I do put lock nuts on when rims are new but put original back on when rims aren’t as desirable.

Yep Costco has a variety of it. I get the lugnuts there if in a pinch. Then replace it with the OEM ones when I can order it through Amazon and/or Ebay. The stealerships sell it too but they usually asked too much for it. However, if they are open and have it in stock, it's OK too when in a pinch.
