Welding a broken metal bracket back together..

I know many lazy folks don't do this step but first step, sand the paint off:






Then hook up the welder:






Not pretty but gets the job done  O0:

I don't weld enough to justify getting one of these but welding helmets do provide the best protection overall though..

These cheap protection shields came with the welder that I bought. I've only tried the shade but not the mask:
