Couple Wanted for Allegedly Stealing Archaeological Treasures From Canyonlands National Park
When visiting our national parks, following posted signage is key, not just for our own safety, but for the preservation of priceless natural and archaeological treasures. Two recent visitors to Canyonlands National Park are now wanted for possible theft after being caught at an off-limits archaeological site. According to a news release from the National Park Service, video from a trail camera at Cave Spring Cowboy Camp in the Needles district of the park showed a man and a woman entering the closed-off site. They then allegedly "removed artifacts from a cabinet and handled historic harnesses in a manner that had potential to damage them."
