Actually Trump nominated him as Fed Chair in 2018 and Biden re-nominated him in 2021. Prior to all this... Obama appointed him to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in 2012.

So, in all fairness... Trump was partially correct. Trump can replace him with an no nominee... since he's already served 4 years under Biden.
