Surviving Milli Vanilli Star Nearly Unrecognizable in Rare Appearance — 35 Years After Grammy Scandal
More than three decades after one of the most infamous moments in music history, an ’80s chart-topping figure linked to the Milli Vanilli Grammy scandal stepped out in Los Angeles — this time celebrating a project earning new industry acclaim.
Fab Morvan, the surviving half of the duo that dominated late-’80s and early-’90s pop before the truth about their vocals came to light, appeared at a book event in Los Angeles this weekend. Morvan was photographed outside his LA Times Book Release Party at Barnes & Noble, where he greeted attendees alongside collaborators Parisa Rose and Alisha Magnus-Louis.
It marks a notable moment for Morvan, whose audiobook You Know It’s True: The Real Story of Milli Vanilli was recently nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Audio Book, Narration & Storytelling Recording — 35 years after the group’s original Grammy was revoked.
The other nominees in Morvan's category include Trevor Noah, Ketanji Brown Jackson, Kathy Garver and the Dalai Lama.
A Comeback 35 Years in the Making
Morvan’s rare appearance comes amid a wave of renewed interest in the Milli Vanilli story. The project, published by The Los Angeles Tribune, has been praised for revisiting the duo’s rise, the deception that made them household names, and the fallout that followed.
The Tribune celebrated the nomination in a statement, calling the story “one of the most talked-about” of the awards season.
