Man Denies Stealing a Trailer... While Being Shown Photos of His Vehicle Pulling It
Some people are above reality. The fabric of space and time? It doesn't apply to them. So when you put a plain truth in front of them, they refuse to see it. At least, that's our hypothesis when it comes to one Florida man accused of stealing a trailer from a Walmart parking lot. After being shown evidence of his own vehicle hooked up to it, he denied being involved.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, the man, identified as 42-year-old Michael Hopper, was arrested and taken to jail. He hasn't been convicted of anything just yet, but it certainly seems likely based on the photographic evidence presented. It all started with a call to the Walmart on Pine Island Road in North Fort Myers. A business owner reported that his trailer, a black trash trailer, had been stolen overnight from the shopping plaza's parking lot. Deputies took the report and began trying to track the trailer down.

Investigators said license plate reader cameras helped them follow the stolen trailer and pin down the vehicle that had been towing it. From there, they identified the registered owner of that vehicle and it led them to Hopper. Deputies eventually located the vehicle again as well, though the trailer was gone by then.

Deputies identified the driver as Hopper, of Lehigh Acres, and brought him in for questioning. The sheriff's office said they showed him images of his vehicle connected to the missing trailer, and the simply denied being involved. He was detained and booked into the Lee County Jail, though whether he did it or not has yet to be determined.
