remove unwanted apps? (help)

how do I remove unwanted apps from my phone? When I hold the apps, and delete,t hen I go back to my apps, it's still there? need help.. thanks

For Android, go into
Settings --> Applications --> Manage applications --> Click on the app you want to uninstall --> Click on Uninstall.

For Apple iPhone 4/4s,
well...you don't have the latest and greatest NEXT BIG THING and can't help you there. :D
