Been so long ago, this must be something new.  I lived in Barstow and went to barstow high for the second half of my jr year.  I'm the 5th and only asian in the whole high school. 

Once you leave barstow and take the 15 to vegas, there is a gas station along the highway.  Perhaps it is this exit.  It is where everyone be making their pit stop and pump up for the next stop in vegas. 

IF this business is depending on their locals for profit then I don't think they will make it.  Now if they advertise it as a must stop shop for all tourist then they will bank big time.  The route to vegas and people bring cash with them.

Eddie's World was opened in 2018 so I'm sure it was way after your time there...
