So you want to ride? Bring your wallet!!
« on: September 26, 2019, 12:01:30 AM »
Sure you can opt for cheaper brands and/or get used gears from places like Craigslist but here's a general idea of how much a starter kit can cost  ??? ;D:

Helmet usually is the number one priority item because it's required by law in CA - $800:

Gloves are usually the second priority - $400:

Jacket is usually the third priority - $800:

Boot is the usually lowest priority out of the necessity gear but can still be pricey - $400:

Whole suit is available as well - $2000:

Don't want a full jacket and only the armor? - $400:

And if you don't want the pricier leather pants, and opt for denin? -$150:

No price is big enough for safety

When I bought mine during my college years, I was on a budget and got an HJC brand for $200   :2funny:

No thanks.  I'd feel stuffy wearing all that.  I thought people ride so they can be free like the wind....but looks like they're all bundle up.... ;D ;D

I'd rather invest in a sport car w/ no roof or sun roof - the wind blowing my hair and the breeze caressing my face...fresh air...that's more like it and more freedom.

Imagine this..

You riding on a bike at around 65mph,  you fall off your bike and by hitting the ground, you will not die right away.  You skid and physic laws at play that things in motion will continue to stay in motion until something stopping you.  What you hit is how you will and may die.  Your protective gears and uniform will be all messed up.  Millions of dollars involved in the technology of your safety equipments just to keep you alive.  You know what skin looks like when it is rubbing against cement?  Now do allow your protective gears to rub against the pavement instead.

No price is too big for your safety.

As long as it's DOT and Snell approved, it's all good...

I've owned HJC brand helmets over the years too...Some HJC helmets can get up there in prices too like this $800 one:

Actually not stuffy as it's well ventilated ...kind of like wearing winter clothes i.e., jacket, gloves, scarfs, etc. But again that can depend on the person too.

If you don't want to wear it, you don't have to..the only exception is helmet as some states requires it. And people do ride to be free like the wind but if you haven't ride, you wouldn't understand..

And no a sport car will not provide you with the same sensation because you're still inside of a cage..

That's a fact, I've never ridden one before.  So in the Summer month, do riders dressed up in all that too?  I imagine it gets hot and stuffy.  I can it makes sense in Winter.

Yep, they make gears for the Winter and Summer seasons as well as for rain, snow and wind...Obvious ly, it won't provide the automotive level AC and heater like inside of a car but it still gets the job done in terms of keeping the riders comfortable and safe while riding through the elements...inc luding air conditioned helmets and jackets...for the hot Summer days.

Air conditioned helmets and jackets - you riders are spoil for sure.  A confession, not a rider but riding on the back of the bike is one of my bucket list.  Hahhaha but I'm thinking now I'm not as young as I used to be so I may need to be strap on in case sleep takes over and for sure I do not want to fall off hahhahhaahhaah ahahahahahahah ahahahahahahah ah....... but it'll be interesting to ride into the night  underneath the cool air and stars.

Asked my wife about it since she's been both a passenger and an operator and she said, the sensation is definitely better as an operator but yeah, doesn't hurt to try it out as a passenger first..

LOL...that's kind of why I just want to wear the uniform and not exactly play the sport.  right.

Like that chick in the hot ski suit at the snow lodge, but she can't ski worth anything.  All she did was sat around and sipped coffee next to the fireplace.

The real villain is looking at you.  The last hero was just not true.  If everything works out in the end.  It's because all things make amends.
